I noticed other people doing this, and I followed their lead. Ordinarily, I'd say that anyone offended by something they've read can just get over it, since they chose to read whatever it was...but when this company wants to treat all of us like garbage, they deserve to be flagged for writing something offensive. If you agree with me, go
here and flag their entry.
I also filed a complaint at
Consumer Affairs, and others are filing reports with the
Better Business Bureau.
The latest two developments have been a supposed glitch that had an effect on things written by users who suffer from depression, as well as the LGBT population here.
Rather than discuss things with us, an interview was given to the media, and the users here were bashed openly and for whatever reason, accused of blackmail. If you'd like to read the translation of the interview (it's in Russian), look at pages sixty-five and sixty-six of the comments.
I know a lot of people are planning to have a one-day strike and not write anything here, but that won't make a difference. Paid users are still going to be paid users during those twenty-four hours. There are a lot of people whose accounts won't expire for quite some time, but choosing not to renew when the time comes will make a difference.
Leaving the site while you're still a paid user and can't get a refund? They won't care.
Continuing to be a member here and not giving them money as you write entry after entry? That's going to cost them money in the long run. I'd rather see the site shut down from lack of funds, honestly. It would be a well-deserved punishment for the behavior of Livejournal, Inc. (Or maybe I should say lack of behavior, since we're pretty much being ignored.)
