It was nigh impossible to pick just 10, but here they are in alphabetical order. In the end, I tried to choose things I thought people wouldn’t know or would appreciate having an MP3 of.

C’mon C’mon by the Von Bondies - A balls-to-the-walls rock song with a raw feel, a fantastic intro, and a great place in TV history as the theme song to Rescue Me.

Catch Me by Bandits - One of my all time favorite recordings. From the German film, Bandits, a fantastic film I recommend to all, it’s a cover of the little known Hobart Paving by Saint-Etienne, a kinda weird song. The Bandits re-wrote some lyrics, gave it a different name, and completely re-imagined it as a rock classic.

Cells (Instrumental) by The Servent - The hard-to-find song used in all the trailers for Sin City. A pretty phenomenal guitar lick.

Centrifugal by themumbles - One of my favorite songs by the Beatles and XTC inspired band themumbles who I found via CD Baby. Their lyrics often concern very heady and even scientific things and their sound is delightful.

Chameleon by Sam Ashworth - A fantastic song by a very little known artist. I found Sam because he came recommended by the songwriter from Sixpence None the Richer, having co-wrote some of my favorite songs form their last album. He’s a gifted writer and a decent performaer.

Chocolate by Snow Patrol - I discovered Snow Patrol very recently and love their album, released last year. Their song Chasing Cars almost ended up on this list, but instead I went for this non-album track off The Last Kiss soundtrack featured in the film’s trailers.

Cinderella by Laurel Brauns - A folk singer from New Hampshire and one of my all time favorite artists, this gorgeous song is my favorite off of her most recent album. I’m a sucker for well used string sections.

Cold Hands (Warm Heart) by Brendan Benson - Brendan isn’t very well known, but he was part of the super-group The Racentours, who were pretty popular last year. The distinct bell part from this song might be familiar as the song’s intro was used in some commercials.

Courage by Sarah Polley - From the film The Sweet Hereafter, this is the actress Sarah Polley’s take on a song by The Tragically Hip, using instrumentation from the film’s score. Truly beautiful.

Cuscutian by Frente! - An Australian band that enjoyed a brief bit of fame in the late 90s with their cover of Bizarre Love Triangle, I’ve been a big fan of Frente! since then and followed the lead singer to her second band, formed with her guitarist husband and featured repeatedly in Buffy, Splendid. This is a jazzy, folksy, groovy song off of Marvin the Album.

For the interested, songs I felt absolutely horrible about excluding include Come to Jesus by Mindy Smith, Converted by A3, Call and Answer by Barenaked Ladies, Cross-eyed Bear by Damien Rice, Come Together by Vyvienne Long, Can’t Complain by Nickel Creek, Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You by Morten Harket, Candide Overture by Leonard Bernstein, Candy Everybody Wants by 10,000 Maniacs, Cello Song by Nick Drake, Charge by Splendid, Children Run Away (The Man with the Candy) by The Frogs, Come On Now by The Kinks, Come Sail Away by Styx, Complainte de la Butte by Rufus Wainwright, Country Feedback by R.E.M., Creep (Radiohead Cover) by Damien Rice, and Closer to Fine by Indigo Girls.

If tagging were acceptable with such a work intensive meme, you'd better believe that aloha_moira, beerbad, mighty_sparrow, militantmonkey, and xliquid_dreamsx would all be tagged right now. And you'd better believe that if livejournal's coding for adding links to usernames wasn't supremely fucked tonight, I'd include them.
