She didn't sleep, instead staring at the ceiling of her new room in Milliways, trying to sleep, but failing horribly. As the first light of dawn peeked in the window, she got up, not getting dressed since she hadn't gotten undressed in the first place. Her clothes were wrinkled, her eyes red.
She headed downstairs, each step feeling like lead. Didn't say hi to anyone who might have been there. Instead, just heading for the back door. She'd been told there was a lake. She intended to find it.
Find it, she did, and she found a nice patch of grass to sit in and watch the sun come up.
A rabbit eyed her warily, sizing her up. Such a petite woman. Couldn't possibly cause much trouble. It leapt, managing to sink its teeth into Buffy's arm.
All the anger and frustration Buffy had been feeling for the past week built to a breaking point in that moment. The primal force within her that was the Slayer lashed out, snapping the rabbit out of the air and, in one swift motion, smashing its head against a nearby rock. The Slayer's arm rose and fell repeatedly until there was nothing left but a loose furry bag of bloody flesh and bone fragments.
She was covered in blood. She didn't care. Expressionless, she continued watching her sunrise. Once it was over, she got up to go have breakfast.
She was famished.
