CSI: Cleveland

Rupert was not accustomed to this level of forcing a stiff upper lip. It was one thing to grin and bear the death of a girl while she did her job as a warrior. It was another to collect them when they had pieces missing, deliberately and methodically. He'd never thought he'd encounter a serial killing vampire but to his best guess, that was what they had been dealing with for the last few weeks.

The basement had been cleared out, after it was determined that the slayers probably needed a break and to get their spirits up a little. It gave Rupert time to ponder over the bodies, look for clues and determine what this crazy monster's next move might be. It was proving useless, so he'd asked for Spencer's assistance.

He'd traversed the stairs surprisingly well without any slayers around to help him. Rupert handed him gloves so that he could inspect what he wanted, and explained that the bodies were laid out in order of being killed, and he'd photo-cataloged any missing parts, extra items on the bodies and all markings. Each of the seven bodies laid on the cold concrete floor with various colored sheets over them.

"Magic hasn't helped me so far. Every time I cast a spell or ritual to identify the source or trace back the girls' last steps, I get blown back by some sort of reverb." His voice was probably exhausted, as he'd been up the entire night performing these tasks. "I'm really hoping a little science might give us some headway."

Buffy had asked him, well, she'd told him to figure out what was going on in her overly serious General Slayer way. Rupert had known the girl long enough to know that it meant she was scared and clueless and was grasping at straws. Faith had simply shut down, refusing to talk about it at all and shrugging whenever he asked a question. Spencer was his best hope at the moment and he really hoped the man's judgment and talent were everything he was cracked up to be.

This was all way over Giles' head.
