There's a whole lot of things that Mel used to take for granted that she didn't even know she was supposed to appreciate before they went. Not just the stamina for exercise and poise, but advantages to being the Slayer that she barely knew were because of her demon until she lost it

It's mid-morning by the time Mel's finished her workout and shower, and Lilly's finished her far less strenuous Pilates and hot tub soak. She's on the couch with a notepad when Mel emerges from her room.

There may be a wolfwhistle.

May there indeed? Mel grins as she detours through the kitchen, cracking open a tube of cookie dough before joining Lilly on the couch.

"Morning."

"Morning," Lilly says cheerfully, tossing the notebook aside and eyeing the cookie dough.

"I see you've gone for the breakfast of champions."

"My breakfast was pancakes downstairs," Mel points out. "This is my post shower snack, actually."

[awesome_lilly]

"Oh. Still a tasty idea."

Lilly snags a fingerful of dough.

"Yeah, totally tasty. And the perfect 'I have stories for you' snack. I approve."

"I live for your approval," Mel says with smirk, and settles down further. "You go first, then."

[awesome_lilly]

Lilly grins.

"Kay. So, you know about Indy already, but remember how I didn't come back to the suite the night before last?"

There is what Lilly considers a suitably dramatic pause.

"I was on Serenity. With Jayne."

[slayer_fray]

"Mal's ship?" Mel asks, licking dough off her fingers. "Rocketship. Who's Jayne?"

"Mal's hired muscle, or whatever. I don't know what the offical title is."

She smiles wickedly.

"But I know it's muscle worth hiring, in any case."

[slayer_fray]

Mel returns the wicked smile. "Of course it is. I trust you to have taste. You gonna see her again?"

Lilly cracks up.

"Oh man, I keep forgetting. Not a she. Jayne Cobb, big burly guy with girl's name."

She steals another bit of cookie dough.

"And yes, I will be seeing him again. Preferably naked."

This is fine. One of Mel's best friends was once a big burly guy called Kettie. Still, there goes the mental image of Lilly having hot girly sex.

"Naked is always good," she agrees, hiding her disappointment well. "Should invite him to Thursdays."

"I might," Lilly says thoughtfully. "He might get weirded out by the guy nakedness, though."

She glances at Mel.

"And if he didn't, well... I could ask Antigone, but I think she would really freak."

And there it is.

"Antigone? The pouty girl?"

[awesome_lilly]

"The really very kissable pouty girl," Lilly corrects happily.

"I think the actual kiss surprised the hell out of her, but... she didn't say I couldn't try it again."

[slayer_fray]

"Why would she?" Mel asks, genuinely confused. "You're hot."
