d.b. is home!

David and I caught a bus down to the Animal Hospital to pick up our little Niblet. They gave us some pain meds and antibiotics to inject orally every 12 hours until they're all used up. She goes back in 10 days to get the stitches removed. Right now, we have her confined to the master bathroom with food, water and her own litter box. She has been sleeping sometimes in the laundry basket that stays in there. It has a bath rug on top that has her smell on it, so she's settled down in there already. They couldn't get her to use their litterbox or eat their food so they fed her soft stuff with a syringe and let her go potty in her PetTaxi, since that was where she preferred to be - the scent of home. Anyway, by the time we got back, it was dark outside, with a strong, cold wind blowing. David carried her carrier and was walking pretty fast, looking around constantly for possible trouble and fussed at me because I couldn't walk fast enough to suit him. I was gasping for air by the time we got safely locked in our apartment. Hell-ooo nebulizer!

They printed out a bill for us that was a bit more than the initial estimate - $1,222.77. Ouchies! David showed his co-workers the estimate and everyone said that we were nuts to spend that kind of money on a cat. Obviously they do not have pets, or else don't love them as much as we do.

I thank all of you for your positive thoughts, prayers, well wishes, etc. It'll take a while for her to feel like her fiesty self again, but I feel good (and relieved) about all of it. As for the cost, well, we've been paying off my hospital bill and once that is done with we'll still be paying out the same amount for however long it takes. She's worth it.

later...
