The entrance ashtray
My city hike begins at Duane Street where the Glnd Fwy (2) ends and merged with Glendale Blvd. I don't have the route memorized and am constantly second guessing myself over which street to turn take but the more I take this route, the easier it's should get to memorize. At least I'm not carrying around a map with the street names anymore. Now I just enjoy the scenery. Duane St is the first of the steep hills in a westerly direction toward Silver Lake Dog Park.
It would be a nice walk for the dog, but I usually walk to Duane St from home at that in itself would probably be the extent of what the dog might be willing to tolerate.
I turn left onto Silver Lake Blvd and right at the next street, Van Pelt Place. At this point, I'm looking up to find any oak trees with little results. From Van Pelt Pl. it's a zig-zaggy right turn on Silver Lake Drive which ends at Redesdale Avenue.

Redesdale Avenue is the second hilly street and here is when I start second guessing myself. Normally, after turning right on Redesdale from SlvrLk Drive, it's a left on Castle St. (from this point, the only thing I have memorized is getting to Rock Street, but that's still several streets from this point. This time I bypassed Castle St. and climbed Redesdale, turning left on Windsor Ave. which connected me to Castle St.
it's a right on Castle Street from Windsor and basically my only navigational instinct was to head north as much as possible until I see Micheltorena St., again, several streets away still.
Castle St. ends at Landa Street. I take a left there and an immediate right the next intersection over on Redcliff St. See what I mean about zig-zaggy turns. Castle is a climb too. By this time, if you haven't broken out in a sweat, then your pace has probably slowed considerably. Redcliff St. is the street that connects to Rock Street. There's a TV show called Castlerock.
The 70 minute wait
And here is where the northward direction ends and my navigational instinct guides me west. Micheltorena Street is almost a 90 degree turn left. Not hilly. To get to the Landa Street stairs from this point, stay on Micheltorena St. past Lucile Ave. and take a right turn on the next street over, Landa Street. Note that there is no street sign indicating the name of the street and so your only marker is to take the next turn after passing Lucile Ave.
You can take Lucile Ave, but what that does is take you to the bottom of the Landa Street steps. I wanted to arrive at the top of the steps, so I passed Lucile and continued to Landa Street. You can't miss the signage from this direction. I included a photo of it called Esther's steps.

The route I take to walk to my local bar, a steep hilly path, ends here where I can hold onto the stair railings as I descend. What an exhausting workout. And painful. Couldn't help thinking that I would have to buy a cane to report for work next day. Weird.
But all turned out well. No cane needed. whew.
I took selfies to use time stamps to indicate how long the wait to get in to Tiki Ti took. Incidentally, the closest I got to finding an oak tree on this city hike was spotting fog trees which have a leaf similar to oak.
