According to Wikipedia, your birthday falls on the day in 1963 that a key symbol of the Cold War was put into operation: the Moscow-Washington hotline, aka the Red Telephone. It is, of course, still around, but the threat of global thermonuclear war is decidedly lower than it was in 1963. It's also the day in 1984 that the Space Shuttle Discovery, the third orbiter in NASA's inventory at the time, took it's maiden voyage with mission STS-41-D. The orbiter spent it's 25th anniversary since launch where it belongs: in space, on mission STS-128. Hope you had a wonderful birthday!
