Happy Birthday to hakuku! According to Wikipedia, on this day in 1987, a certain cartoon premiered on the Tracy Ullman show as a short. The cartoon, about a dysfunctional family named The Simpsons, including an overweight father with the propensity to say "D'oh!" and a son who's an underachiever and proud of it has gone on to become the longest running sitcom on television. Woo hoo! And on this day in 2005, the conclave of Cardinals, after the passing of Pope John Paul II selected Cardinal Joseph Alois Ratzinger to become their new pope, Pope Benedict XVI.
