Today is Yuffie Kisaragi's birthday. I bet none of you knew that. Or cared about that. Or would go through the trouble of looking up something like anime character birthdays just to have an idea for an icon. Well, that an Yoshiki icons probably wouldn't scale down so well. Okay, moving on...
I've been kind of quiet the last couple of weeks because I haven't been working at my desk, but rather in a nearby undisclosed location where all the internet I really had was on my iPhone... and the signal reception sucked in there. It was all for a demo for a conference where I had to pretend to be an operator for the software line I work on. Since the operators are supposed to be military folks, they made us wear something akin to camo print air force jumpsuits. No, I don't have full body shots... yet. Even when I will, like I said, I'm not letting those get out for the most part. I don't think I look very convincing as a military guy.
Photos: I'm working on a tiny set of shots (like 23) from a small shoot on Halloween. After that, I'll backtrack to Anime Con Carne then hit PMX. Then I'll try to work on backfilling again.
Future plans: not sure. Thanksgiving's going to be nice and quiet for the most part. And there's no cons or gatherings to worry about until ALA in just over a month or so, but that's after the holidays. Probably need to figure out what the heck our group is going to do for our annual Christmas meal together. I'm sure there's a few shoots in that time period, too, including potentially one or two fairly involved ones.
Someone needs to keep this iPhone away from me or something. It's kind of a time sink at times. It really is useful to have internet connectivity on the road. :O
Interesting thought: how are there so few anime-themed products on the iPhone store? There's a few simple themed things, and there's Ah Moemory (which I'm toying with buying, but I don't want to spend $3 on the full version), but it's pretty weak.
More importantly, why hasn't anyone developed something like a customizeable mascot application, something akin to an iPhone window/desktop sitter or something? I mean, just something to open once in a while and sit there and look cute or something. So tempted to commission someone to develop drawings for a custom character and license it from them, while I learn Obj-C, figure out the iPhone/iPod Touch APIs, and then make it myself and sell it for 99 cents a pop or something. How can this need for cute on the iPhone be ignored?
So with a phone now with internet connectivity, some people figured out I got a Twitter. There are easy ways to find out which Twitter is mine. However, I'm going to play hard-to-get and not post exactly what it is. HAHAHAHA!!! Which'll work until the first person comments with precisely what my Twitter is. And then I'll be doomed.
To jailbreak or not to jailbreak: that is the question. Besides other questionable activities, it might almost be worth it just to get tethering (for free). Then again, I did buy an extended AppleCare warranty on this thing, and it probably wouldn't look very good if I had jailbreaked the thing, and it died on me before I could do something that would allow me to restore it to a default setup that would hide my evil.
How have I not outfitted
lifftchi with one of these things and one of those apps that can post current GPS information somewhere so I could have my oft-desired c-chan tracking system. Oh wait, that'd involve me buying him an iPhone. And it's a lot less necessary now given that I have an actual cell phone to poll that as needed. Right, that plan's out.
So, um, at the same time I got my iPhone, I also picked up a PS3 via a 15% off discount coupon that
tidus_dream had pointed out. Since I was going to pick one up anyway because of the new TV, . Of course, the net result is that my poor credit card wants to kick me in the nuts because I've basically made around $1400-1500 in purchases in the last month alone, but I should have most of that paid off in about 2-4 weeks or so once I've gotten my paychecks and once I use some of my big ticket fund against the rest. Just in time to take care of paying for Katsucon plane tickets. And Christmas presents. And an ALA hotel room. orz
Yet of course, after having the PS3 for a few weeks, all I've gotten for it is Disgaea 3 and a copy of National Treasure on Blu-Ray. I'll probably start looking at
bobbarker's movie recommendations once DeepDiscount does another one of their sales. Until then, are there any fun things I can do with this black monolith, or is it just there to look shiny in-between those times I'm trying to futz through D3's significantly more complex game system and playing with everything else instead?
At least I think if I give myself enough time, I can execute on the Christmas gift idea I've been toying with in my head for a whole year. Just need to do some simple graphics assembly work and collect the components together.
Not jumping into collecting addresses for Christmas cards yet. Call it a philosophical decision. I refuse to acknowledge worrying about Christmas until at least Black Friday. Then I'll start dealing with that stuff. Shoot, I probably ought to figure out if I can get a family photo together by then or something. Similarly, probably why I haven't even jumped onto anyone else's requests for addresses either.
