Gambling is SERIOUS BUSINESS

Kitty's rakin' in the chips
This weekend was rather uneventful. Well, unless you count me hurting my foot again and being laid up around the house much of the weekend. And the van's water pump leaking and needing replacement that basically in combination with my foot guaranteed I wasn't working Friday. Don't worry, both things are fine now, so back to normal, I guess.

But more importantly, VEGAS IN A WEEK, BABY! I can almost picture The Strip in my mind. It's been forever since I've been to Vegas. Well, not really forever, but the last time I was there was late July 2005. So it has been over 2 years. To put it another way, the last time I went was before I had gotten my current job. This doesn't sound like a long time unless you knew that during my childhood, our family used to go to Vegas something like 2-3 times a year or more.

I had hoped to be able to sneak out to Sin City by myself. Y'know, because, I like to sin... by myself... Let's not think about that. ^^;; But as it turns out, telling my mom that I'm going to Vegas without her is like waving a lollipop in front of a child and telling them they can't have it. Sure, you can lay down the law, but do you really want to suffer the consequences? So I'm most assuredly stuck with the parental units, which ought to make for fun conversations on the way back home once we've emptied our wallets and purse.

And rest assured, our wallets and purse will probably be emptied. I mean, there are plenty of relatively "wholesome" things to do in Vegas. Per what I've heard, I'll have to look at the Palms' or the Rio's buffet. Thankfully, since we're staying at the Gold Coast, we'll just walk there and back, since we'll need the exercise. o_o There's also seeing the shows ::crosses fingers on getting tickets for Spamalot::. But I'll be honest: we're there to gamble. And I take my gambling seriously. I've got a small stack of papers I'm going to be reading from here until Friday on correct strategy for Blackjack, Video Poker, Three Card Poker, and Let it Ride that I printed out from the Wizard of Odds. I've already memorized a few correct strategies for simpler games like Roulette (if you're going to play, just don't bet the basket), Baccarat (always bet banker), Craps (Don't Pass & lay full odds, though Pass and taking full odds isn't much worse, nor is Place 6/8), and Slots (insert bullet into gun, apply bullet to head with sufficient force). If I were nuts, I'd read up on Pai Gow and Pai Gow Poker, but I think I'd resort to my slots strategy instead.

Seriously, it's all in the name of fun and relaxation. Yeah, odds overwhelmingly favor us losing. But I'm not giving it to them without a good fight. Thankfully, I'm not too bad a gambler. I'm prepared to lose my bankroll, but I'm definitely not going to be in a good mood if I do. Probably why I haven't been to Vegas in so long. Wish I could say the same about my mom, but I'm sensing she's just a lost cause, so we just have to make sure she minimizes her losses. :/

Still, neon, bells, money clanging on metal pots, piles of food. Man, I can't wait.

real life, :3, gambling, las vegas
