Can any one tell me why my Wireless internet wont work if i have security on?? And how am I really leaving myself open to dooms day if i dont have it secured?
OKay here's the deal..
Got a linksys wireless router.. Step dad is the one who installed it along with my Linksys wireless card into my 6+ year old Dell. He had it working fine for a week or so. ... then for some reason comcast, my provider, messed things around becuase I didn't 'officially' do the set up page of comcast, since we had moved and continued our service. So this reset's my internect connection.
So from that day.. my Comptuer does say it can find the wireless, but it stays stucked on finding the IP address. Not being able to find anyway to get around that i just jack my computer in with cables to the router. The wireless card says it works fine. The router works fine cable wise and says its sending out a strong wireless signal.
Now I have my DS which i am trying to use the wifi part on.. and it finds it and it says its locked. So I go looking around on the DS website to figure ou thow to bipass router security. which i still cant figure out, but i did find out how to turn it off and VIOLA! my computer's signal is now getting through and of course the DS is too.. BUT now my routers unsecured... .. So how dangerous is unseecured routers really?
EDIT: Now i cant get back to that page I got orriginally to mess with the router.. UGH.
GUess i'll go back to fiddling with it and hopign it doesnt explode... :/
