Still unpacking.
Fishy the betta fish seemed to have a white spot on his head a few days a go and some sort of growth in the middle of his dorsal fin. Put extra aquarium salt in and that seemd to take care of the white spot. Bought some all purpose medicine for fin rot, fungus, etc at the pet store, but haven't used it yet, as i was hoping the extra salt would continue to help the growth too. Also bought a small poop sucker so I can get the poo out easier with less stress to him. I think that was the main problem. Stress. His tank is always clear and i clean anything that has algae starting growing on it. He was in the main kitchen area while we were unpacking and became quite a bit skittish and messed up cause we decided to use his light as a nightlight for benji so his hours are all messed up. He doesn’t seem to enjoy his bloodworms as much as the regular pellets now.. which is also odd.. he's usually a glutton, but I’m hoping he's still adjusting to the change in light. There are happy nest bubbles at the top of the water this week, so he mustn't be too bad off.
Tiber and Vlad- Found some fluffs of fur with dried blood on my computer chair today, looks likes tiber hair.. I haven't heard any fighting from those two.. but they both been scratching.. guess its time to do a flea check and brush down. Also no pukage from the Tiberman. Which is very encouraging! Also gave him a little bit of salmon! They love the brightness of this new place. They're constantly laying in the sun. Oh, and vlad seems to love to eat my hair. He sits on the back of the computer chair and i can hear him munching on a stray strand.. grrr!
Benji - Now starts the "Soccer mom" part of life. He's signed up for 6 weeks each of Soccer on Sat, Art on Friday, Lego building with Dad Wed nights, and once those are done then 6 weeks of tumbling till the day before we leave each Tuesday.
For his school I’ve been comparing Calvert home school with the new Pilot program in this State. Its called ConnectionsAcademy and its a home school course that is also combined with online resources and teachers have the planner and everything.. and the best part is that its paid by the Gov! For the Kindergarten, they basically have 95% of the materials that Calvert would supply you (basically minus the planning materials as they do that all for you via the internet) PLUS quite a few more supplemental materials and electives all FREE! Calvert makes ya pay at 400 for the basics (just books and materials), 665$ for the basics plus online help. ConnectionsAcademy provides more math supplementation, social studies, extra science material, extra art material, and 4 electives to include Spanish, Home Life (which montisorries focus on), Webquest, and Hooked on Phonics. I'm really excited about this program, but right now its only available to middle school kids in one county in Eastern Washington. I'm hoping this pilot goes well and they open it up all across the board by the time Benji's in Kindergarten.
Leaving - Going to go visit mom for Christmas! Polo will come with us for 2 weeks, then he will go home after Christmas and then benji and I will following after him in about 10 days. I hope i can last that long! It would have been shorter but the airplane tickets are crazy!
Our 1 year anniversary is coming up. Going to go to Tillicum Village with my old roomie and her family that's visiting from Hawaii on Sunday.
