VLAD
This morning when Polo and Benji got done with their showers I hoped in and They went out to finish getting dryed and dressed. I'm all soaped up and I hear this HUGE commotion almost like a cat fight and Polo his HOWLING at the top of his lungs and Benji starts crying. I'm thinking Tiber and Vlad finially had a it out. I jump out of the shower take Benji from Polo. Polo was holding him and he bumped Benji's head on the hallway wall/bedroom door. What happned was that Vlad bit his leg!! he had four big puncture wounds in his calf. I got benji calmed downed, he was more scared from the noise and reaction from Polo than he was hurt. Polo then checked out his wounds while I hunted down Vlad. I didn't hit him, but i had him by the scruff and told polo to growl at him told him NO BITE!! a few hundred times and then tossed him in the Bedroom so i could better see what happened to Polo. Polo then took Benji and started to get him dressed while i soaped off, then we traded spaces so Polo could rinse out his wounds. In hind site we probably should have switched that. So here I'm trying to think of what happened here, what set Vlad off. He was a little extra frisky this morning. After having a shower, and coming out into a relatively dark area, maybe the stray cat kicked in and he thought Polo was an intruder. Polo of course was all concerned that what if Vlad did that to Benji, he would have gottne him right in the stomach. I dont think that would ever happen, Vlad *REALLY* likes benji. He lets him drag him around and carry him, and he'll jump up to snuggle with him and deal with all the toddler craziness. So we're tlaking back and forth about this.. and i go into the bedroom to pick Vlad up... Now vlad is almost always purring when I pick him up, quietly but it its there, and it was again. I turn back to Polo, and polo goes "LOOK at the door!" now i didnt' have my glasses on so it took me a while to see what he was talking about. there was a3 HUGE tuffs of fur in the door jam, and Vlad's tail had a crink in it. Yup, His tail got slammed in the door when polo shut it on his way out! Poor VLAD! Polo felt bad about being so angry at him and apolgoized to him and petting him, and vlad was purring much more loudly now. I took the fluffs off the door and there was some skin stuck on it . :( His tail his fine now, no crink and he's the same old kitten as ever, but Polo's leg is still sore especially after walking all over teh Zoo and then up to the UW Lawn for the food festival.
Now for VLAD pictures:
Before: While they're not side shots, his head is MUCH bigger than the rest of him, he was 9 pounds here.
Today: You can see he has quite the belly now! I thought i had more pictures of him, but in the second one below you can even see his stomach from above! Before he definately had a indent (waist) where his pooch is now! I cant believe he gained 4 pounds in less than 4 months on Raw meat and a few table scraps. You can also kind of see how his fur shines.
Vlad Face shot.. was trying to get him just to sit up pretty so i can take a nice pictures, but he saw the cord hanging off the camera.
Tiber sitting pretty :) He has 3 hang out spots now.. Here on my cabinate in the Kitchen, the top of my moinitor that I posted before, and under the bed. He's knocked tons of stuff over to claim that spot.
ZOO:
The Zoo was a BLAST! They had so many new exhibits opened (with more to come)! I didn't even know they were working on them! We ended up hitting every thing except the last bit fo the Tripical Asia Habbitat and the Wild African Dogs. We were there for 3 hours and Benji was just tuckered at that point. When asked what his favoriate animal was or which one he wanted to see he only replied "ALL OF THE ANIMALS!"
First off was the Family Farm. They had a petting Zoo with Goats, Sheep, and Ponies. They also had minature donkies and Cattle, but they were only in a viewing station.
Ben Loved to pet the Goats and the Ponies. That Pony is 28 years old! dang.. older than I am.
They had some activites and booths set up around in the next section over. Most of the stuff was about birds and wild life convservation. The thing that most interested benji was a little section where they put wings on the kids and then they would Pollinate the "flowers." He wanted to be the BUTTERFLY! He loved his wings. The Lady running the activity is showing him what to do in the second picture. He could have stayed there for an hour! I missed a good shot, when he tried to get a ball out of on eof the taller bins, he totally had his feet sticking up in the air diving in for it!
After the Barn area they had a new "bug" world. Inside they had all the creepy crawly local nasties. Mostly things like cockroaches, spiders, and other beetles.
What was unbelievable is that one of the last windows was, well there wasn't a window. this spider completely had access out! It was slanted.. and there was a bar kind out farther than normal to kind of show "dont get closer to it then this" but you could still totally lean over and even grab the spider out if you wanted to. Mind you as soon as I noticed that i went right next to the outside door waiting for polo and benji to finish.
Then it was off to the Habitat Discovery Loop. Another new feature. There was no Animals there, but they had lots of things for interaction. A rope 'web' for kids to climb on, somesort of primate tunnells, trees for kids to climb up. and Polo's favorite.... TURTLES!
We then continued on to the wetlands, which had a lot of ducks, cranes, and other birds.. mostly behind screens. This time I just got a shot of some pretty flowers. I usually dont take pictures of flowers, but they were all so perfect!
Then, i saw an animal I never saw in real life before, and I gotta say they're my favorites now!
RED PANDAS! they were on loan from another zoo, they're trying to get them to mate. They were in an out of the way place, but you could get RIGHT up to the fence. It was wonderful! I wish the other one would have turned around, it seems like 90% of the time, all you see in Zoo are Animal asses!
Benji did start asking to see an animal.. the ZEBRA! there was only one, and it was kind of hard to see. It was also in with the Giraffes, Hippos, Gazells, and some Monkeys.
Throughout the Zoo they had brass figures of animals for children to play on, they also made great photo ops, my favorites were the ones we got with the Gorillias, hehe the little one was confused as to what his part was. ;)
One more flower picture. they had a tropical rainforest exhibit, complete with rain, and the flowers were real!
Now, We've NEVER seen the Lemers out, but they were three out today, jumping around chasing each other, there was even a moment when they were all yelling and it made me wonder how many more were hiding out in their hole/den... it was a humoungus noise, and it made me jump. Also, they have this tiger, who is ALWAYS making noise. And i'm sorry to say, but i missed a good shot where it sprayed right in front of me on that log that's all scratched up cause i was having technical difficulties with the camera.
Then we went to another new attraction. the Willawong Station. Basically for one dollar you get a small popsicle stick with some millet on the end and you go inside to feed a flock of budgies and some Cockatiels, and a couple little parrots i have no idea what they are, and there was no sign to ID them, but i did get a picture. one of them stoled a huge bite off the measliy amount of millet I was given, but he was pretty.
Then off to the Aussie Exibit, all with one Kookaburra and a few Wallabies, who were just laying on a bunch of hay sleeping, but the Kookaburra looked so good it seemed like he was stuffed! ;) Although i do think i flashed his brains out, he flew away shortly after I was done. I did try to take some pictures without the flash, but you could just see the glass to well.
Last set of pictures, we then went to the northen trail.. and saw animals that can be found in our own back yard. We did see a porcupine in a tree, but he was all balled up cleaning himself so pictures look just like a clump of something, instead of an animal. We also saw a brown bear, salmon, mountain goats, eagles, and elk. The river otters didn't want to come out to play.
We then walked down back up towards the Asian exibits, benji decided he wanted to push his stroller, which we let him do for a while, but then when we were almost to the raptor center, he tripped and fell down with the stroler and got a little scrape on his hand. He was still showing people on the bus and at the food mart 4 hours later! But that had enough impact on him that he was pretty much done for the day. he only wanted to be carried from then on, we've been there for 3 hours and I was even getting bushed, so we went home, and Benji was asking for TUNA MAKI (thanks gopets :P), but he fell asleep on the ride home, but he has a great memory so we went down to QFC and bought him some for when he woke up.
FOOD
I ment to take pictures of food, but it was soo crowded and so rushed, and with all the little plates ontop of pushing the stroller and keeping trakc of benji, that i tjust couldn't be done. Anyways, my old roomie called me up, told me they had this Taiwanese food fair at the hub and asked if we wnated to meet up wtih her and try different foods. So we did. She always ends up coming late, it was from 5-9, and she wanted to meet at 6:30, but we went up their early anyways to stand in the lines. and it was a good thing to, by the time she was there, they were starting to run out of food. But some of the things we did get to eat: Bubble tea (for benji), Popcorn chicken (asian style of course not KFC), Chicken Satay, Shu Mei, Radish cake, Steam Buns, Tofu Pudding, Egg tarts, Sesame Balls, green tea cake, marinated soysauce stew, Debbie had a couple of other things that we tried, but i have no idea what they were.
We hiked it back home around 8, decided to crash and watch what netflix brought us (the next installment of Farscape) and now i'm posting, and i cant bleive its past midnight and it took me so long to do this!
I was going to try to finish my last bit of work, but i can barely think straight. Bed time for me!
