There's a new born baby across the courtyard.. and it wont stop crying.. I can hear the other people over there tending to it, but he just wont quit.. and i'm finding it quite distressing :|... If it is colic, it should stop in a couple months (although I realize that's a long, long time to hear anyone in distress). I just hope the parents have checked with the doctor to make sure it's not something else. I'm sure most parents do, since you said you can hear them caring for the child. I found possible explanations for colic and suggested cures on the regular old wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baby_colic I'm sure you know other ideas as a parent, too, but I'm sure everyone is giving them to much advice right now! Oh well. Good luck!

Thanks! actually we talked to them today... they're not due till December and were babysitting a friends. Which also explains why the kid was going off more than i would expect.. yea Benji was colically and it lasted oh boy over a year.... and then it seemed to kick in at night for longer than that.. I also wonder if he didn't have night terrors. I just didn't expect such a strong reaction of myself when hearing some one's elses infant go off...Sure there are young kids around us and they do cry, but i never had the same feeling of needing to go to its rescue..... i donno.. but yea i really hope in december that one's not collicky either! its awful!

Sorry to hear Benji had such a hard time of it when he was young. It's hard not to be distressed by a crying baby. I also have trouble if I can hear animals, even if you know it's a dog that likes to bark a lot, and it's worse if it's like a kitty crying and you aren't sure where it's coming from. It's hard to ignore a sound of distress.

yea, i know whatchya mean... after talking to them about it though, it kinda makes sense.... i think it was the tone of the cry.. at the end there it was crying/fussing, but it felt a little different, and probably because his parents finally came back to pick him up... i was thinking maybe i was just getting used to it.. but perhaps i've got better ears than i thought i have.
