So there's finally electricity in the apartment as of last Thursday, after nearly a week of torturous living without it. The Boulders better cut us a sweet deal on our rent for all the shit we've put up with, if they're even gonna make us pay at all. We still don't have a door that locks/shuts properly because that's up to the fire department to fix and they apparently blow monkey ass all day long and don't do their jobs. So we're not living in a safe environment. Someone could steal me at any point...or even worse, my iPod...
I spent the weekend in Mansfield and it was a good time - hanging out with Nic and his friends, getting wasted with his parents while he was at work, etc. Sometimes I feel more at home there than I do in my own home...maybe because I've probably spent more time there this summer than in my own home. Oops.
Father's Day was hum-drum. Brief visit at home, gave my dad his card, did my laundry, etc. Holidays are becoming so low-key as the years go by. Father's Day used to mean a family picnic ordeal; Mother's Day was a huge event with brunch; Fourth of July was a GIANT family party. Now everything is a family member stopping by for a cup of coffee, giving a card, etc. and then peace out. My parents didn't even celebrate New Year's Eve this year. Getting old blows.
My week should be nothing out of the ordinary or exciting. I plan on actually working all my hours this week instead of casually leaving early or not showing up like I have been so far this summer. This week I had yesterday off, meaning I have to work Friday. This weekend my family from Pittsburgh is making a cameo on their drive up to Maine for vacation and I have to read in church. Bah..
I was ready to blow my work up on Friday morning. I woke up early and checked my checking account to see how much direct deposit paycheck from work was...and nothing was there. I called up work and was like, uhh - my direct deposit didn't go through. So I had to call up 85738 other people and one thing lead to another and come to find out, the payroll lady in my office forgot to submit my hours into the system and Human Resources was like, our records show that you didn't work at all these past two weeks. So I had to go all weekend without money and then yesterday my payroll coordinator straightened things out and I was able to get a 70% advance on my paycheck and the rest of it will just show up in the next paycheck I get. UGH! Such a hassle...
I'm not letting this "Adam wants/needs a new computer" situation go down without a fight. After a week or so of not mentioning it to my mother, I brought it up again today to her. I was just like, hey - I bought one, and hoped she wouldn't call my bluff. And she didn't even freak out. She was just like, how are you gonna pay for it? I really need to just go through with it. I've been prepping all my music on my computer to be transferred to a Mac, and I'm completely redoing my iTunes music library. I worked on it literally ALL day yesterday (I know, I'm a loser) and I guarantee I won't be finished with it until this weekend. Hey, at least it keeps me from going out and spending all my money, which is what I'd normally be doing.
Ok, I should probably go back to work, seeing as they're not paying me to type in my LiveJournal. Actually, as of last week, they're not paying me at all...
