It's been a few weeks since I last posted, and since then all my papers, group projects, presentations, and all exams (except for one final on Thursday) are DONE! Everything went smoothly and I'm glad to say that academically, I think the semester ended well. Much easier than anticipated.
Every year I say this, but it keeps ringing more and more true. As the years go by, the semesters just fly by even faster. I'm a senior in college now. That's frightening. It seems like just yesterday Chris and I were moving into our little dorm in Orchard Hill....Ahh, the memories.
Other than schoolwork, these past 2 weeks have been a doozie. For a while now, I've been having some pain in my lower left jaw and my teeth were really sore. I just thought it was because my wisdom tooth was coming up a bit more. The pain would come and go, but last Wednesday it was unbearable. The pain brought tears to my eyes and I couldn't sleep at night because all I could think about was how bad my jaw hurt and how slicing it off with a butterknife might actually hurt less and would take the pain away. So I made an emergency dentist appointment and come to find out, my wisdom tooth was "soft tissue impacted" and infected, so for the past few days I've been living on painkillers, codeine and antibiotics. I haven't been taking the pain medication anymore and the pain isn't there, so I'm hoping this is done with. Regardless, I have a consultation with an oral surgeon this Thursday to talk about getting these bad boy wisdom teeth removed. Should be a grand ol' time.
Let's talk about how eventful and fun today was *extreme sarcasm*. Whenever I visit Nic or my other friends at UMass, I park (illegally, but whatever) in the Southwest horseshoe. Throughout all 4-give-or-take months of this semester, I have not once been ticketed for parking there, or even seen any other car with a ticket for that matter. So this morning I leave Shannon's room and walk outside and I think, "Wouldn't it be funny if this one last time I got a parking ticket." So I walk to where my car was (keyword being "was") and start to freak out. I went back to Shannon's and called UMass Parking Services, then Amherst Towing and find out my car was TOWED for being parked illegally. HAHA! JOKE'S ON ME! So finally, I take the bus to North Amherst, then walk a 1/2 mile to Amherst Towing and pay the $110 to retrieve my car. $110 for towing is not something I can figure into my crunched budget right now, so thankfully I still had money leftover from selling textbooks back yesterday. So I get to my car in the tow yard and see that UMass still left a fucking $50 parking ticket on the windshield. Those bitches! If you'r gonna fucking punish someone for parking illegally, go ahead and tow me. I accepted that. But don't fucking leave them a ticket, too. As if the towing wasn't bad enough. Umass Parking Services WILL be getting an angry letter from me soon.
That was the just the icing on the cake of a crummy morning. I had to say goodbye to Nic because he left today to go back home. It was sad, but I guess I'm just resting easy knowing that I'll see him many times this summer. It's going to be weird not having him to hang out with every day. And sleeping alone is going to blow. Bah, I don't want to think about this...
And then if being towed was the icing on the cake, then the cake got some sprinkles on the icing when I came home to read online that my idol Kylie Minogue has been diagnosed with breast cancer and has cancelled the rest of her tour. Everyone say a prayer for Kylie's speedy recovery. :(
I've never been so unhappy for the summer to be here. Sure I'm happy that I won't be waking up early to go to 8:40 classes and stuff like that, but now I have to start working 30-40 hours and week and I just hate getting into that daily grind. I don't want to be working a lot until I've graduated. But I do need the money like woah for credit card bills, rent and surprise expenses like million dollar parking tickets...
Santa Maria, when will it end...
