"HERE'S (TO) LITTLE RICHARD!"
The Walter Mittys have a long-standing tradition of "toasting" before the start of a rehearsal. It's usually something music related but could be "something else," if need be. Last night, we settled on Saint Patrick's Day as no one could come up with anything more "musical." But on my ride home I thought about little Richard. Not 'cause he has a birthday (it's in December). Or because a song was playing on the radio (last night was one of those "thinking" no-music-playing kind of ride home). No, I thought of Little Richard because I included him in my WINTER Show at Northfield Coffee and Books shop -- the show that celebrates "all things January, February and March." So you might thinking right now (kinda like I was on my ride home), what does Little Richard have to do with January, February or March (given that his birthday is in December)? Well, in 1957, his debut album Here's Little Richard was released. It was released in March. But no where can I find what day in March. So, I suppose, if you need to toast something in March. And you'd like it to be "musical."
