I'm sure you all noticed that LIVE-JOURNAL is celebrating it's TENTH birthday. Well, I wasn't here for the first five but I did join in late
April of 2004 (at Jo Knowles jbknowles invitation).

Here's a post from
FIVE YEARS AGO TODAY!

MORNING MEDLEY

Drive My Car
Well, Baby, I had to drive my own car... down to Fisher's Garage in the center of beautiful downtown South Deerfield... that time of the year in the lovely state of Massachusetts where them cars gotta get inspected.... and tho I don't do much business at Fisher's anymore -- they're more of an "all-american-good-old-boys" kinda shop and my "made in japan" van kinda puts a wrinkle in their brow -- but Richard's, my shop of choice, doesn't do state inspections...

Rain
...when the rain comes, they run and hide their heads or are thankful that my messy van often includes discarded clothes from previous journeys.... in today's case fortunately, A HAT! Not much protection being an engineers cap but fortunately it was only misting (remember that lame joke as a kid? ...."It tried to rain but it mist").....

Cross-tie Walker
An obscure song for an obscure activity.... How many of you still have a railroad running thru your town? One that hasn't been turned into a bike path? Not many of these dinosaurs left.... kinda sad for one who use walk the ties to get everywhere in my hometown... "As the crow flies" is almost synonymous (is that the write use of that word all you righters?) with "As the train rides" ...from my house in Easthampton it was the most direct route to downtown, my high school, my friends across town.... now it's a rotted mess cuz the town couldn't agree that those crime ridden bike paths were a good idea.... in the South Deerfield, tho, the train is one of the last to be active, so, it makes the most direct route to work from Fisher's Garage....

When I Paint My Masterpiece
Well, I'm sure not to be painting any masterpieces here at work... 'cept maybe this little journal entry!

Enjoy!
