Major Music Purge...
...today. I must have chucked a dozen bogus 4-liners. Some had two verses. Most tried to rhyme with "whiskey", "gun", "kill" or even "rattlesnake!" A lotta bad song attempts on the backs of scrap paper, yellow stickies and phone bills.
That and multiple copies of internet printouts of songs from Hank Williams to Leadbelly, Joan Jett to Joan Osborne.
And there were some good originals in there too. I could tell exactly where I was and in what band when I read those that made the cut and those that didn't.
(I did start a very-scaled-down file of various band memorabilia. Posters, set lists and promotional brochures, etc.)
And in that mess that was in the drawer below the drawer shown below...
...I also found ancient freelance-job invoices, sketches and print samples. Some is gone forever. Some filed away neatly.
And there were "Children's Book poems." Some very, very old. Some OK, some not....
And in my two-wastebaskets-stuffed purge, I freed up space (as in emptied) in two other drawers where old lyrics and duplicate printouts and crappy sketches once lived.
There's no way I'm "turning over this studio" as I originally boasted. But I will get this black file cabinet to lose about a hundred pounds and open up major file space for the many "lost-and-without-a-home" sketches, drawings, documents and such...
let's see what I can accomplish in the next hour....
