A BUSY and productive day....
Yesterday. A 6 hour batik workshop.
4 new pieces to work on.
Up late on friday night
completed pieces to work on
Pencil line (above) of
Billie Holiday
became batik color (below)
when the day was done....
another friday night rendering
resulted in Fats Domino (below)
Material was a "surprise"
no bleed let very painterly come forward
Last workshop was the day after
Illustration Friday assignment: tattoo
for good or bad I rendered: Tattoo
My "LJ-Friends" put many names
on my requested list
One often repeated name was
Martin Luther King Jr.
A birthday rendering fell short of my standards
so I didn't post it and vowed to "try again"!
In all cases, I felt something "more in the batik"
part of the art came forward.
I want to approach the pencil part of these pieces
more from the "center out".
By that, I want flesh out the facial features
(if you'll excuse--maybe--the poor choice of verb)
and see how much original batik art
I can leave untouched
That will be the challenge!
