Oh crap. I should NOT have left it at the last minute. I really should not have left that freaking song til the last minute. But yet I did. And now I'm screwed because I have to have that song committed to memory by NEXT Saturday or Aunty Bernice will kill me.
It's not so much that I don't know the lyrics. I do. It's just that I don't know the freaking melody to the second part of that stupid song for us part two people. And when Aunty Bernice wants us to commit something to memory, she meant that we have to know the lyrics and how to sing the lyrics, aka, know how to sing it to the melody and remember the expressions.
And what's even more sad is that the Solomon group, i.e., the group I'm in, sucks. Yes, we do. And it's not our fault. That Solomon song is boring. The melody is boring. The whole song makes no sense. Lilies don't spin anyway and birds don't sow anyhow. And what does Solomon have to do with anything?!
But we don't suck as badly as the Beautiful Dremer boys group people. At least we don't all lose our voices in the middle of the song quite so obviously. We sing through the whole song, albeit badly, but we don't just die in the middle of it. We just need to tweak up our performances that's all. And you can hear us, which is so not true of the Dreamers boys group. You can hear the first couple of lines of theirs and that's just about all you can get out of it. You can hear ours...albeit not as good, but the point is you can hear us.
But we're still not as good as the They Shall Hunger No More group. Man, they're good. But...that's because they have an EASY song to sing where you repeat one phrase repeatedly TEN times. Ours is hard. So it's not ENTIRELY our fault if we don't sing it as good. And besides...they have Kelsey and all those kids who sing loud in it...so yes, you can hear them...you can hear us too...we're just not as loud. And they sing out of tune, we sing IN tune, so it's different. We may sing softly, but we sing it in tune. They don't. Makes a whole lot of difference I tell you.
I must have that song committed to memory by next Saturday. I must. We're presenting this in the big June concert so we HAVE to be good as we're the FIRST group to perform. We can not screw up. We must not screw up. If we do...Aunty Bernice will be pissed...and it's not very pretty when she is.
And just to prove that I know the lyrics, I shall type it out here...under the cut.
The lilies of the field, see how they grow, and yet they toil not. Clothed in splendor bright, they do not spin, for morrow take no thought.
The birds that fly above, they do not sow, and neither do they reap, yet even Solomon was not arrayed as these.
(Repeat the same thing with Part Two Melody)
Our heavenly Father knows our needs, if we in righteousness seek, if we seek him.
Take no thought for tomorrow, his love will guide if we have faith in him, remember Solomon was not arrayed as these.
The lilies of the field, consider how they grow.
See? I told you I knew the lyrics...now I just gotta memorize the melody.
