you know, of all the pairing to not get-- i really don't understand the draw of jon/spencer or ryan/jon. if you could, please, what is it about each that makes it believable?
because i've never understood.
i think that i'll always be a ryan/brendon girl, because, honestly, the dynamic is there, canonically, they have it. i can read a near-canon fic about those two and question endlessly. the way that i perceive them, that edge is absolutely believable. i see that line being so utterly blurred, i see it in canon. they forever trip across the line between platonic and otherwise, unknowingly, even.
jon/brendon slowly grew on me, because i saw it at one point. back when jon joined them. i think that those two as doofs is utterly adorable.
ryan/spencer sort of always holds me, but i love them so much as these long time friends who just know each other that it gets hard. i feel like they have a day as well, back way before panic at the disco.
i, admittedly, really can only read brendon/spencer as primarily sexual. mostly disarm_d, i love her spencer.
I don't know that I really "get" Jon/Spencer either- it's just that a good story makes me suspend disbelief for a little while- and Jaime's story really did- because her dynamic was spot on for me. Her Spencer is a fairy lord and Jon his human knight, so basically, Jon serves Spencer! Granted you have to like fantasy/fairytales but who doesn't? :P
I hated Jon/Ryan when I first got into bandom, with a passion, but somehow it grew on me. This past year, since they've been smoking up together and doing the silly interviews together, and talking about writing together, and the American Valley bit where they were playing guitar together- there's been a lot of canon created for them - and they do make sense- more than Jon/Spencer IMO.
I love disarm_d's Spencer too! And I almost would have chosen Tell Me To Stop as my ultimate Brendon/Spencer fic, but I thought it might squick some with the kink- I love them kinky, but I as I said below- I love them innocent and romantic too- I see this really sweet childlike quality in both of them- and I think they would come out and play together :D
