Well This about sums it up :
Morgan is having a Ryan Ross Moment.
Cut for long rambly, image heavy squee :D
All pictures taken by
aerogroupie (unless she's IN them, in which case it was me ;)
SO: First of all, Wednesday. Morgan drove TEN HOURS straight from Kentucky to Kansas, passing right through Columbia to get to me ♥ She is the most insane, awesome person ever and she is mine! :D
Then after, oh about 5 hours of sleep, we got up and made the 3 hour trek to Columbia for the show, stopping somewhere in Missouri along the way to eat at Arby's and of course
write fic O.O
We arrived in Columbia at around 6:30 - giving us enough time to drive around downtown 20 times to find a parking spot- lucked out and found a nearly empty, and also free, parking garage. Morgan was wearing her totally punk-tastic Tripp jeans, and managed to break the zipper, so rather than facing Jon Walker with a perpetually open fly ( too creepy even for us LOL) we got safety pins and I proceded to molest her pin her fly closed in a parking garage.
Key highlight:
ME: "I'm either going to stb you with this pin, or I'm going to have to stick my hand down your pants"
So- pants secured we made it to
the line just minutes before they opened the doors \o/
Once inside we of course had to make a pee stop O.O. The venue has ONE, unisex bathroom so while we were inside- (and yes there went all our hard pinning work), trying to repin Morgan's pants, I am reasonably sure we scarred the poor cute little fanboys waiting in line for life /o\
Then we made our way to the stage- the venue wasn't even half full - sad for them - awesome for us :D
So first was Black Gold. They were amazing! I've always thought Eric was attractive, but he's even better in person- seriously photos don't do him justice he's adorable. Also a very good frontman, very flirtacious and informal and his vocals never falter. (He does have this habit of sucking on his tongue that is very , uhm, distracting but w/e :D- and then Than! OMG Than is a DRUM GOD! I have said this before (and yes, if you haven't figured it out, I DO have a thing for drummers/drums in general and that bias was probably showing, but he is awesome. He puts everything into his drumming and he is impeccable he bounced so much his glassed flew off- not once but twice and flailed around with his sticks until he knocked his mic off the stand and across the stage all without missing a beat! At one point their guitarist (sorry dude I don't know your name :( ) grabbed some sticks and they did a little drum duet and Than dropped a stick- and wasn't even phased just played his solo one armed- HE REALLY IS AMAZING OMG.
So ok pictures- we didn't get many- people in the way, and cheap cameras, and you know just generally flaiing at Than and Eric (and the bassist whose name I also don't know but who had some moves ) but here are a few:
Than the rock God!
I have to include this for the two girls in the foreground (whose names I didn't get because I fail) who were not only cool and nice but - were also near me in the crowd at Panic's HCT as well! -go figure :D
And then THE YOUNG VEINS! \o/
I was with Morgan so OF COURSE we were on Jon Walkers side ;P and it was a good place to be. He is so tiny and adorable and it is awesome watching him on guitar- and singing\o/. Nick M was right there as well, and yes, Than is a drum god, but I gotta tell you Nick holds his own as well! He is just made of adorable, bouncing around with his curls flying in his face, but he also has mad skills! Especially during 'Defiance', which is my favorite, especially for the drums, I didn't take my eyes off him the whole time, not even to look at Ryan! (shocking, I know)
And Ryan. Ryan Ross omg. I've heard many people say he's not a front man, that he doesn't know how to lead a show, but I think he does all right, he's learning. Not everyone can be Brendon Urie and it's sad that he's probably always going to have that comparison hanging over his head. Don't compare apples and oranges and you'll see that he has his own quiet charm which is , well charming. The music was amazing and they sounded just as good as the recording, maybe better.
Pictures:
No report on or pictures of Rooney, sorry, because while i don't think they're horrible, I'm not really a fan and we weren't there for them :(
SO now- the most awesome part of the night...
We could have talked to Andy, but we didn't because Morgan wouldn't grow a pair and was being all shy(yes apparently it happens :P) and then there was a Jon Walker and well- you know. We were standing near the bar and waiting for someone to come out when he came to the bar. We waited for him to get his drink and then Morgan accosted him said hello, and he smiled the most awesome smile an earth (and seriously? how is he so tiny and adorable?? he is seriously pocket sized!) and stopped to talk to us. He told us he is seriously considering becoming a vegetarian, and definitely cutting down on meat eating. The thing with the cows (see his Twitter if you don't know what I mean) really upset him - no joke. And we talked a bit about philosophy (everything dies sometime) and the hideousness of the beef industry, and he was so sincere and intelligent. Morgan said something about vegetarian food being expensive and he said it's not about expensive food - just "don't eat meat" simple as that. Anyone can afford rice and beans :D (ok - so it's not always that simple, but point taken.) He also told us about the deer that kept them from getting to the Denver show, apparently an SUV ahead of them swerved to avoid the deer and they hit it(the deer)- the SUV flipped and Jon said they were sure everyone was dead, but luckily they pulled them out and they were fine O.O Scary. We of course told him the show was great and we talked about how awesome Than was - he totally agreed- told us "He is the one playing on our album!" and I was like I KNOW! and proceded to totally geek out over the drums *facepalm*. Morgan was getting all shy again at this point and just beaming at Jon like he was the lost messiah, and I KNEW she wanted a picture so I grabbed he camera and asked and he was like "yeah sure!" and just leaned in and smiled and hugged -omg guys, he really is a hugger, and then I took my turn *_* and then we watched Rooney for a bit and he wandered off with Andy.
Next we waited and waited for Ryan to come out. We could see him sidestage with Eric watching Rooney for a bit. I was content to stand and stare (wut?) but Morgan was getting antsy and I think about to give up when they came strolling out. Unlike any of the others, Ryan was immediately swarmed by a small gaggle of fangirls - go figure. But he was really friendly and gracious, talking and smiling and posing for pictures- even led them out into the lobby where the light was better (still such a camwhore lol). While he was busy, I took the opportunity to grab Eric (literally, lol - he's a good hugger too:) and tell him they were fabulous. He seemed surprised :O like "really" and gave me the biggest smile and thank you- then he was off - so no pic :( but w/e on to Ryan!
So. Confession time. I'm pretty normal around most bandguys, or celebrities of any kind really. They're just people. I get that, and I don't have a problem talking to them. BUT- something happens when I get within 100 feet of Ryan Ross. My brain, my heart, my whole person just turns to absolute mush. I freeze and my vocabulary usually consists of *_* ---------! But Morgan KNOWS, ok, she knows me and that I would regret it forever if I didn't talk to him so she pushed, and kept pushing and finally I was like- OMG fine! I went up to him and said that I wanted to tell him it was brilliant show and could we get a picture before my friend nagged me to death! He laughed and said of course and then hugs and poses and pictures ensued. Morgan had her mouth wide open when I snapped the first pic (hence my first photo which so aptly sums up the night!) Then I told him that seriously, I loved the new stuff and thought he was great etc, etc (insert ass kissing here :P)and he smiled and said "Thank you, I'm glad." and my heart did that melty thing and we left. The end. (Oh except for the part where Jon and Than and Andy and a few random people were hanging in the alley when we left (we had to walk past to get to our car) and we waved goodbye:D
Ok now: the fun pics! and yes I cropped - my ugly face does not need to be all over the internet:p- Morgan said she didn't care so...
