Writer's Block: Remembering Summer

Aug 20, 2008 20:21

I am not a big fan of summer, and I don't like hot weather. Nevertheless when I think of summer, I think happy thoughts of the very first pop song I ever liked. It's a daggy old thing I really shouldn't admit to, but hey that's the beauty of anonymous journal writing! This dates back to 1975 in Australia. I was 12 (my only defence) and watching Countdown for the first time. And got blown away by the song 'Summer Love' by Sherbet. And I still love it. Either I am still a complete dag, or some things just get into your blood at a formative age and stay there...

Ooh, look, it's on YouTube! Heh heh.

(Do I also admit I had a big girly crush on Daryl Braithwaite...? Maybe not.)

Now if the acutal season had any of the joy and energy of 'Summer Love', I'd be way more of a fan! Instead I just suffer the opposite of the usual Seasonal Deficit Disorder, or whatever it is...
