He wanted to feel safe for once and not just safe because he could protect himself but safe because there was no danger in the arms that held him. He wanted arms to hold him where he didn't have to be any one more or less than what he was. He didn't care if those arms were strong or gentle; he just wanted them to be protective and possessive. He wanted to be loved by somebody who knew what he'd done and didn't care.

He'd sought the world over, but the last place he'd expected to find that love he so desperately craved was in the arms of the hacker who gave it. Eliot didn't care how big a geek Alec was. What he did care was that, when he was done with his video games and computers for the night or when Eliot needed him to be done, he came and held him. He never once asked questions, never cared what Eliot had done though he knew. He loved him for him, and that was all Eliot cared about, that and that the world was slowly becoming a bit of a better place, thanks to Hardison and their team.
