unlovable and incapable of loving someone.
Villiers loved him in a way he supposed.
Perhaps like that of a cherished horse or hound.
They had coupled.
Had a child.
Stephen had felt something. He was not sure it was love, but perhaps the yearning to be in love.
He settled his wig upon his head and went to the great cabin.
“Stephen! Come, the toasted cheese will be forthcoming. But first, I am vexed by this passage. Let us go over it.”
But Jack loved him and he loved Jack.
