Oh, I do like this--I could see Giles being determined not to give the First the satisfaction of seeing him suffer. (And true, there are worse ways to find out about something like that--and he should know.)

I think I see a heavy Trickster influence there - somehow, I don't think the costume caper was his first Halloween prank, and I don't see him settling for TP'ing the neighbors' houses or setting a bag of dog poop ablaze! :-)
