So the running joke with the Devils was that all you needed to get a roster spot was to be named "Scott". But not anymore - since the lockout, they have all left the team to move to less-Jersey pastures.
Let's review the fates of each member of the Scott Brigade, shall we?
Scott Stevens - retired after the lockout.
Scott Niedermayer - signed with the Anaheim (Mighty) Ducks after the lockout.
Scott Gomez - just signed with the...the...fuck it. I can't bring myself to say it. You know he's going to get the Bruce Driver / Bobby Holik treatment the first time he comes back to Jersey.
Scott Clemmensen - signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
It'll definitely be weird to have a team that's entirely Scottless (or should I say, Scott-free?). Even our Brian quotient has been cut in half, as Rafalski signed with the Red Wings. At least I'll have a good chance of seeing him there (although he's the player featured on my Devils calendar this month, leaving me no recourse but to shake my fist at him for the entire month).
I guess Scotts just aren't in as much demand any more. Any guesses on the next name the Devs start accumulating? I say we go after Patrick Marleau and Patrick Eaves (and bring Patrick Roy out of retirement) to keep Elias company.
