Blurb: Devin visits the Renaissance Faire with one goal in mind: to pickpocket enough money for another cross-country dash. His would-be killer is on his tail again, and he needs to get the hell out of town. Once inside the gates, he finds himself under the scrutiny of Ezra, the handsome bartender. But Devin is on a mission, and while he relieves the costumed masses of their money, he also steals a magical amulet from a seemingly-abandoned jewelry case.

An amulet that happens to be Ezra's.

Devin's hunter corners him before he can skip town, but Devin escapes with his life and a nasty bullet wound to one arm. He passes out in his car. When he regains consciousness, he finds himself at the mercy of the man he'd stolen from. A man interested in a lot more than the return of his property...

There are a couple of reasons that I was attracted to this book. The first being that I was introduced to the fun of Renaissance's Faire's a few years ago. Since then I have been back at least once if not twice a year. I was not disappointed, really enjoyed the way this story turned out and the ideas behind it.

My biggest problem with this book is that I think it could have used more depth. The characters were somewhat superficial, and a longer work would have been able to delve a little more deeply into that side of things. However, overall for the length of this book it was a good story with a number of plot twists that I did not see coming. I would love to see another book about these characters and the magical nature of the Faire, there is a lot of potential in the idea.

Devin is a young man on the run. His former protector, and almost older brother has been trying to kill him for the past few years. Devin isn't sure why, all he knows is that if he stays in one place for too long, he's always found. Desperate for money, he ends up picking pockets at the local Renn Faire to try and get enough cash to make a run for it. When his former friend and would-be killer unexpectedly shows up at his job, Devin escapes with some help. Injured and on the run he finds himself back at the Faire in the care of the mysterious and handsome Ezra. Will Ezra be able to help him? Devin doesn't think so but then he doesn't believe in the magic of the faire either...

All, in all this was a fun work with a good mix of fantasy and reality. There were also a number of inventive sex scenes, and a good amount of suspense as well as mystery mixed in. I would be willing to read other works both this author. :)
