Yesterday, Jen and me drove into Santa Barbara to meet Kyle for lunch. The drive there was absolutely gorgeous, with green hills and mountains as far as the eye could see, strane birds that I have never seen before (turkey vultures are as common here as crows at home). When we arrived in SB, it was a bit foggy unfortunately. Kyle's colleague and friend Brian also came along with us for lunch, and we went to this place whose name escapes me at the moment. It as at the beach, and the view was awesome.

Brian is a hilarious guy, and we had a blast talking about all kinds of things (mostly kids and girls, Brian also has a kid who is 2 years old now). After we ate, Kyle and Brian had to go back to work. Jen and I drove through Santa Barbara. When we went back, we took another route (equally beautiful if not moreso), I think it was called the 514. On the way to home, we stopped at the house of the guy who introduced Aebleskivers to America--Arne Hansen. Kyle and Jen are friends with them, and they hadn't seen te baby yet. We only had a couple of minutes to visit but it was fun anyway, and Arne even has Dutch ancestry (his mother is from Sneek).

After we got back home, I spent some time relaxing, and then Kyle got back and we had a few beers. Duvel was a big hit, but then it is a pretty awesome beer. We watched a bit of Deal or No Deal which is the latest hit by Endemol. It was pretty amusing, but mostly because of the contestant who was a over-enthousiastic gay New Yorker.

After that we watched Corpse Bride. It was good but not great. I think the songs that were in there gave too much of an "afterthought"-vibe, which brought the whole movie down. It wouldn't have seem like that much of a Nightmare Before Christmas rehash if the songs weren't there, in my opinion at least.
