A/N: okay,. this is a fail. I don’t know, I can’t seem to write anything proper lately. But I did have a lot of fun writing this, even if I didn’t know how I did. Requested by anon over at tumblr and I have to apologize for deviating from the original prompt.
Unbeta-ed.

Nine year old Cho Kyuhyun was scowling when his Mom made him attend some stupid birthday party, but he didn’t want to be here at all. He’d rather be home in his room with his laptop playing games.
“We’re here” Mrs. Cho told him with a smile, but frowned when she saw the look on his face. “Don’t give me that look Kyuhyun, you need to get out more, you don’t even have a lot of friends because you’re always locked up in you room. Now go and play with other kids” she told him before walking off to join the other parents in the side.
Kyuhyun crossed his arms, clearly upset. Even though he was still a child himself he didn’t like child plays at all. He was a quite mature for his age so he couldn’t see the fun of running around and getting yourself tired for something that he probably couldn’t win because he wasn’t used to physical games, he was better with technology.
He shook his head and watched as the other kids play “pin the tail on the donkey” and laughed whenever they placed the tail on the wrong side. He didn’t get what was so funny at all.
“Hello” he turned as a scrawny looking kid went next to him, smiling so wide Kyuhyun could see his gums. “I’m Hyukjae. Don’t cha wanna play?” the other boy asked, looking at the other kids who were playing another game called Charades.
“I’m Kyuhyun and the answer is No” he answered at once, rolling his eyes at how one kid was trying to act out a lion, but ended up looking he was having tummy problems. “If he’s being a Lion, he’s definitely a stupid way of being it” he muttered under his breath, apparently Hyukjae heard him because he was suddenly laughing so hard.
“What makes you think he’s being a Lion?” Hyukjae said curiously. The other kid wasn’t even looking closely at the kid playing in front to know what he was doing. But Kyuhyun just stared at him with an ‘are-you-fucking-kidding-me-it-was-freaking-obvious’ kind of look, so when it was revealed it was really supposed to be a Lion, he was shocked. “Wow! You were right!”
“Of course” Kyuhyun scoffed, it wasn’t even a challenge, but he mentally smirked. He always did like it when he could show his intellect over other people. “Pretty easy” he said, trying to sound at least a little humble.
“That was amazing!” Hyukjae babbled. “Are you a genius or something?! How old are you?!”
“Nine” Kyuhyun didn’t want to brag, but he did have a pretty high IQ. It was probably one of the reasons why he was pretty mature.
Hyukjae stared at him curiously. “You’re really smart...but...you’re not very fun are you?”
“That’s not true!” he said defensively, Kyuhyun knew how to have fun, he just didn’t find with stupid child games and all. “I am fun, but I like the fun from computer games better!”
“Oh, so you’re one of those computer dudes then” the other boy exclaimed wide-eyed. “Cool! I like computers myself too, watch stuff from the internet lots of times” then he grinned mischievously “But real games are a lot of fun too!”
Kyuhyun snorted “yeah right” as if these physical games could really be more fun than creating a fort and virtually creaming enemies. not really, not in his book.
“Yah, I’m serious. let me show you!” before he could say no, Hyukjae was already pulling him to his feet and dragged him---Kyuhyun’s protests ignored-- to where the other kids are, now playing a game called “Blindman’s Bluff”
“Hey Guys!” Hyukjae said merrily “can me and Kyuhyun join in?”
“Sure, the more the merrier!” a bubbly short kid, whose name tag said his name was KIm Ryeowook said. “But now, you get to be the it!” he screeched happily, placing the blindfold in Hyuk’s hand.
Kyuhyun half expected him to get angry, but the other boy laughed and proceeded to put the piece of cloth to cover his eyes, before he could though, he looked at Kyuhyun with the intention of ‘watch-out-I’m-so-coming-to-get-you’.
Kyuhyun rolled his eyes, but smirked. It wasn’t hard to guess Hyukjae started walking to where he thought he was last standing. The other kids scrambled about, making sure to avoid Hyukjae’s grabbing hands. Even Kyuhyun had to get away when the other was almost able to clutch on to his shirt.
Everyone screamed---except Kyuhyun-- when Hyukjae caught someone. he felt the other kid’s face and pouted, already realizing he had no idea who he caught. He chuckled in amusement from the side, watching as Hyukjae declared his defeat and took off the blindfold to laugh as well himself.
He went for another round of being it according to rules, and finally ended when he was able to tell it was Ryeowook whom he caught. The short boy pouted, but smiled as he got the blindfold off the smiling boy. “How did you know it was me?!”
“You’re probably the shortest one of us all…” He laughed when the other hit him playfully on the arm “and I recognized your voice when you were trying hard not to laugh” he made his way over to Kyuhyun at side, happy because at least got Kyuhyun to participate.
“That was fun, right?”
“It was amusing” Kyuhyun was going to give it that at least. he wasn’t sure how he could find it fun so he wasn’t going to admit just yet, but yes, it was entertaining.
“You sound like an old guy” Hyukjae teased but Kyuhyun just scoffed at him, both of them getting out of the way just in time before Ryeowook aimed for right where they were talking seconds ago.
Half an hour later and Kyuhyun was wondering about his earlier words, because right now, he was certain that he was actually having ‘fun’. They were playing another game called “What’s the time Mr. Wolf” and as much as he didn’t he would, he was running around and actually making effort not to get caught. Hyukjae beside him also looked like he was having the time of his life.
Okay so maybe kid’s games also have their kind of fun.
Soon enough their games were halted when it was time to cut the cake and sing Happy Birthday, Kyuhyun watched on while the rest of the others sang along, maybe he got to play child games but he was definitely not going to do this activity. Then they were eating cake and laughing and talking and Kyuhyun it wasn’t really half bad.
The last game was balloon relay and Hyukjae and Kyuhyun ended up on different teams. The game had a lot more running and screaming and balloons, but in the end Hyuk’s team emerged the winners, when Donghae managed to pop the last balloon two seconds faster than Sungmin. The winners were all given chocolate, candies and ice cream while the losing team had swabs of birthday cake icing as punishment. Everyone was laughing when Ryeowook suddenly pushed Donghae’s--the birthday boy--- face into his cake even though he was on the winning team. Kyuhyun laughed with the rest.
“Sooooo” Hyukjae went over to Kyuhyun, smiling happily and holding his prizes “Am I right, or am I right? Kid’s games are fun too, right?”
Kyuhyun took a moment to consider, but he would be lying if he said he didn’t have fun. “Okay fine” he smiled back. “These games can be fun too...though not as fun as Starcraft”
“And I thought I was able to take your mind off the computer games for a while” the boy pouted, laughing. he gave his half his share of candies and chocolates to Kyuhyun. “Anyway, here. Let’s share”
“But why?”
“Why not? I like you” Hyukjae said simply. “You’re fun to be with”
“I’m actually pretty boring” but he thought Hyukjae was fun to be with too, they could be good friends.
“nah, I can tell you’re not. Want to watch stuff on the internet with me?”
Kyuhyun wondered why that would sound wrong in the future. “Not unless you can beat me in Starcraft”
“No fair! I don’t know how!”
“Then you have to learn, and that I can teach you~”
Hyukjae huffed “You’re going to torture me aren’t you?”
He smirked “Of course not, you taught me how to have fun, now I teach you how to have fun too…”
Really, they could become good friends after all.
