tularia I think we should all do this about whatever our fannish bliss is at the moment. Let's make it so that today it is impossible to turn around on LJ without running into a list of joy about some show or another. Who's with me? C'mon, I challenge you. A list of ten things that you love about your current fandom(s) posted to LJ and a challenge to all of your f'list to do the same.
LotRips
The people the fandom's about. I've learned a lot about life from these actors and directors and writers.
The not-fans, but friends, I've made and met.
The writing I've grown to do.
The writers I've met.
The writing I've read in fanfiction. [Not all of it. But that's been interesting too- I've learned to be discriminating in what I read, and why that's important to me.]
The side-trips I've taken looking up this actor's causes and that one's background.
The reading I've done outside of fanfiction that's broadened my horizons and deepened my understanding of the world.
How beautiful they are, the actors.
How the deep ideas that informed and created Tolkien's world spilled out through the movies and into the fandom and the world.
How the fandom widens my world, daily.
The characters and how real they are to me.
The people I've met in the fandom.
The actors who brought these characters to life.
The way deep and ancient ideas forced their way into this vehicle and made the writers, actors, director bring them to the screen.
The way those same ideas made all those people happy while they did that work.
Writing Jack.
Learning more about the Age of Sail.
Learning more about piracy through the ages.
Reading the wonderful fanfic that's out there. [And learning what I like and don't like in this fandom, which is slightly different to what I like and don't like in LotRips.]
The freedom and joy PotC has brought to my world.
