Quiet Evening [download], Carly Simon, on Into White.
Lyrics by: David Saw

Quiet
Such a quiet
It's a quiet
Won't somebody tell me
Won't you let me know
Quiet evening
I'm sleepy and I'm holding on
I've got nowhere to go
Quiet evening
You know you still have friends
And they'll be waiting for you
Quiet evening
You've been longing for
Quiet evening
You've been longing
Take this night, for the sake of your soul
Moonlight calls and it covers you
There's nothing left but this hidden view
Quiet evening
Cars roll by on that motorway
Others may have a lot to say
Quiet evening
You know you still have friends
And they'll be waiting for you
Quiet evening
You've been longing for
Quiet evening
You've been longing
Some people might stay up til it's light
But take this night, for the sake of your soul
Quiet
It's a quiet
Quiet
It's a quiet
~~~
It was a long night last night at work, and I came home agitated and feeling very shaky and unsettled.
Add to that moving, and other changes, and even though my body's beat I felt like sleep was days away.
Thanks to friends and the love of friends, though, I'm settled and reassured and comforted, and I'm going to bed and let this slightly grey day carry me off as far as it can. And then tonight? If at all possible? I'm sleeping in my own bed in the dark, too.
And I'll sort out what bothered me about work when I'm rested. _nods_
g'night.
