Finally got the disc that comes with the stats book to work. It's a good thing- there's a lot of good practice here. Still. Think I may have been over-ambitious this winter. Not sure yet about that though. Gonna keep fiddling with things, see how they work out. I have some fandom writing to do that I'm behind on. That I'm maybe gonna be a bit more behind on than I wanted.
I need some help though. If you travel a lot from the States to Canada or to Europe, I'd like to be picking your brain the next several weeks. I want to go to the
Reach Out and Read national conference in Toronto in May and meet up with
kitty_van_kat and, if possible,
fisk_blackmun too. Dunno if that'll work out, but if I'm gonna be back East anyway... seems a shame not to at least try.
Then in July, to France for my godson's wedding. I've booked
here, the studio, for a week, although I've no idea how intelligent that actually is. I'm figuring I'll be happier having the flex on either end of the week (wedding's on the 18th, I'm planning more or less to come in on the 14th and leave on the 21st, at this point) than try to save money with a tight schedule. Still, if any of you live down there, know the area, have family there, etc... any tips would be appreciated.
Then, I suspect after that bit in France, but maybe not, maybe before, I hope to go over to England and meet
pferde and see
xchasingtailsx again, and meet up with as many of
you as I can while I'm there. Again, I can use some help figuring out where to stay (yes, lodgings, unless it's absolutely prohibitive- I'd rather eat beans and rice for a year and have the flex, than impose myself on people I love when we're just meeting for the first time. It's too hard, I think, taking in all the impressions and matching them with what one knows in one's heart, to add a lot of dancing around for form's sake. That's why God made hotels. I say, use 'em.) and how to get around. I want to go up to Manchester to see it, walk with Xena the dog, go to the club and hear the music, and I want to go to
xchasingtailx's haunts, and see them too, meet the kitty, and generally get oriented a little bit, if it works out for both of them. So I need to know more about trains and tubes and stuff, and foods, and things like that. Right? Airports, all that stuff.
Y'all can help me out, right? Any info, any experiences, are welcome. It's all more than I have right now!
That way, I can concentrate here at home on the statistics/job/car triad. Which is coming along, slowly but surely.
