Shop til I drop
Dani and I've been doing a lot of shopping the past few days (mostly her, since she has the money XD), I got a few sarongs, mostly indulging my turtle obsession- okay not really. This was at the international marketplace. On thursday I had jumbolaya and stuff at this orleans place and I barfed my guts out that night. Not pleasant. Before that though, we hiked Diamond Head, what a hike! We powered up and down though (taking some time to enjoy the view). Let's see, I believe I counted 76 or so stairs, then their were 99 very steep stairs, a spiral staircase in the dark, and 54 steel stairs after that. XD Friday we hung around and went to the library. They were having a book sale which only happens occasionally according to Uncle Jeff and I got the Alexander hardcover novel Fire From Heaven for $0.75! I'm so happy. XD I also got a few paperback classics I'd been meaning to read, like Moby Dick and Animal Farm. And Lor, guess what I found? Harrharr, "Death in Venice and 7 other stories" or whatever by Mann, bwahaha. I shall be reading it after I finish "The Nature of Alexander," a biography by Mary Renault (same author of Fire From Heaven). That night we went to a barbeque at a house on the beach - Dani and I swam in the dark and I kept hearing the Jaws theme in my head. There were some really interesting people there though, I believe two brothers who grew up in Europe and spoke German, one of them had married a Japanese woman and spoke that too, his little girl was really cute, Dani played with her a lot. Actually, the other one spoke an Asian language as well, he'd spent some time there also. There was the Mother of All Cockroaches there that he squashed. *shudder*
We've been walking and taking the bus a lot, more shopping yesterday, and last night we saw Holes. I though it was a good movie, if not lacking in some plot holes beside all the others. Now I want to read the book. Today we're going to church with my uncle Jeff and aunt Linda and then afterwards to Chinatown for Dimsum (yes! I love dim sum xD - I saw a funny t-shirt at Crazyshirts that had some noodle logo on it and below "Dim sum and den sum!" I didn't get it though, crazyshirts is too 'spensive. @.@) Right now I have a ton a mosquito bites that itch like crazy, and I've been going to bed with wet hair so my neck's all wonky. @.@ Like I said, God is punishing me, every day I have to have something. (Wednesday period starts, Thursday barf, Friday stiff neck, Saturday mosquitos)
We haven't really hit the beach yet, it's been pretty cloudy. Tomorrow is Hanama bay though, for snorkeling.
That was a slightly edited copy-paste of my e-mail to my mom. What the hell, I'm lazy. I have so many books I just want to sit and read! Wah. Even though I should finish Davy and read Death in Venice first, I want to read Fire from Heaven again! I lurve that book. Uncle Jeff and I have been having a discussion about Alexander the Great as well.
