Jacket update, with a bit of a summary
I took the catering company (that ran the coatcheck and chose the security) to small claims court here, and won. Now, rather than just pay me my $370 they are now appealing which leads to them hiring a lawyer and incurring more expense than what my jacket is worth. However they're filing a motion to set up another small claims court date with the promoters named, essentially trying to side-step the fact that they owe me money. Not only this but they need my permission to do this, and they aren't getting it, why would I take my legal advice from the people who owe me money?
But on my lunch today I need to call in to the law association free legal advice line, the law student's association free advice line and maybe a third place, not looking forward to it.
As an aside, does anyone on here who personally knows a lawyer or someone who would be able to sit down with me maybe? I'm trying to get as many opinions as possible so I can figure out what's best for me.
