Author's Notes (optional): Just a short little thing I wrote. I plan on having at least one other part to it. The next part will be humorous, kind of. And a little longer. 437 words.

Gibbs looked at McGee out of the corner of his eye. McGee looked over and they locked eyes. McGee wasn't shaking, but his face had the panic he felt written on his face. Gibbs would like to say that he'd be like McGee if his father was taken by a dangerous serial killer, but the truth was he wouldn't be. He'd be out shooting the son of a bitch.

"Are you frightened?" Gibbs asked him, turning to face him. It was only them in the room, but McGee felt as if everybody knew know that Gibbs knew. He knew he shouldn't think that way, but he couldn't help it.

Reluctantly, McGee nodded. "Yes." What else would he feel? Anger, despair, embarrassment? No, he was still in shock for the most part. Now he was just scared to know the details.

Gibbs nodded, then turned back to the large TV screen. McGee's eyes avoided his father's enlarged face, trying not to imagine what he was going through. It had to be horrible and though McGee didn't want to admit it, there was a chance his father was already dead.

"Not nearly frightened enough," Gibbs said. McGee couldn't take anymore. He left for the elevator, passing Tony and Ziva. Gibbs switched off the TV screen before they could see McGee's father and headed up to the Director's office, ignoring Tony's question about what was on the screen.

"He seems to be hiding something," Ziva commented, sitting down at her desk and checking the messages on the phone. Tony gave her a look, wondering what Gibbs could be hiding and why McGee had been leaving.

"What do you think?" Tony asked. "Latest boat technology? A computer controlled raft?"

"It doesn't matter what I think," Ziva said. "But McGee looked upset."

"He always looks like that in the morning," Tony told her. She tried not to smile.

"Maybe you should go see what's wrong with him," she said.

"Why?" Tony asked.

"You're friends, aren't you?" Ziva asked. Tony opened his mouth to comment, then shut it.

"Are you planning on turning on that screen and seeing what was on it?" Tony asked.

"No," Ziva said. "I just think that you should help a friend."

"Abby should do it," he said. "They're closer."

"Just do it," Ziva said. "Maybe he's having woman problems."

"Whoa there," Tony said, giving Ziva an almost amused look. "I thought we established he was a man."

"You know what I mean," Ziva said, unable to hide a small smile. Tony smiled, but complied nonetheless.

"Tell Gibbs I'm taking a phone call," Tony said before leaving. Ziva nodded.
