Pairing: Kiddie Pyro x Solae
Summary: getting lost really sucks big time. But for one kid, it was worth it.

Hunt by Shimo Hyozan

It was that time of the year again. The season when people would make sacrifices by abstaining from the thing they’d want to do. The time when people would go on vacation with family and friends and enjoy the short holidays

Yes. It was the Lenten Season at all of Clelo.

The kids were naturally exempted from the abstaining part (adults won’t be so hard on them) so they could move on with their normal, carefree lives. Of course, they really can’t have everything that they want, since their parents are busy with themselves (i.e keeping themselves sane amidst all the abstaining). Although, after all the trials and hardships (c’mon, its hard to stay away from good things) a great reward awaits them, especially for the kids (even if they really didn’t do anything special)

Easter Sunday eventually happens, which would automatically call for the annual Easter egg hunt, happening at Reoda.

The said village was this year’s sponsor for all the events. Everybody (as in, everybody) has been busy for the past few weeks, dressing up the place with steamers, banners and all sorts of decorations and making other necessary preparations in order to make the event a huge success.

And now, it was the moment to see and test if all the Reodan’s efforts have come far enough.

“Okay, please let the children gather around so we can start!” Mr.Arcil, the event organizer head, said through the microphone.

Countless kids, aged six and below, started running towards the middle o the square, and some parents nudged their children forward o join their fellow participants.

“Does everyone have their own collecting baskets? Excellent! So, kids! All you have to do is to search for eggs that look like this” and with that he held up a brightly colored egg, the size of a chicken egg. “And put them in your basket. The one who gets a lot of them will get a prize. Just follow the red dots on the ground. Okay, start!”

A whistle was blown and the excited kiddies ran altogether, creating a mini stampede. They went in the forest and did as what was told to them, searching through the thick bushes and following the red dots on the ground.

All perhaps except one.

A certain six-year-old redhead sort of follow the instructions, but something in his innocent, young mind urged him to look harder through the large bush and crawl further in.

…a bit too far away, since when he stood up, he couldn’t see anyone, only hundreds of bushes with flowers and fruits.

To any person, the initial reaction on arriving at such an unfamiliar terrain is panic. But since this is a kid we’re talking about (note: six year old) he has a very different definition for panic.

And so, the young redhead started to cry.

His crying continued, as he sat down and cried some more. He felt so alone, not to mention afraid because there wasn’t anyone else there too.

There as a soft humming heard from a distance, but the youngster couldn’t hear it, amidst all the noise he made.

The humming abruptly stopped, and was replaced by a sweet, soft voice, saying, “Excuse me?”

The redhead looked up, tears welling up in his large, amber eyes.

“Um…is there something wrong?” the person asked. It was a girl of his age, with short blonde hair sunny orbs.

“I’m…lo-lo-st…” he replied, fear evident in his voice.

“Oh? Why don’t you come with me, then? We can find my daddy and then he could find your daddy, okay?” she offered her hand at him “c’mon, let’s go!”

He reached for her dainty hand and was pulled up. Soon enough, they were walking though the forest.

As hey did so, later did the boy realize that his newfound companion was carrying something. Curiosity got to him, so he asked, “What’s that you’re carrying?”

The female looked at him oddly, then averted her gaze on the item she is holding “oh these? They’re called strawberries. They’re very yummy” she picked one red colored fruit and popped it in her mouth.

“Why do you have them?” he continued asking on.

“Its because I came hereto the forest since daddy’s friend told me that there are lots of them here. They’re actually my favorite. Want to try some?” she offered him one.

Thinking it would probably be good (heck, the girl has a whole basketful of them) he took it and eventually ate it.

Unfortunately, his taste buds did not agree to what he thought.

He couldn’t freely express his reaction (although there was freedom of expression present in their time) since, he’d probably upset he girl in front of him.

“How is it?” asked the girl, smiling while anticipating his answer.

He blinked and bit his lower lip. ‘This is gonna be hard’ he thought. He gulped an said “its…good…” then he tried his very best to smile (even if it looked really stupid on him)

Silence passed them, then sunny orbs blinked rapidly.

A sweatdrop passed down the boy’s face.

The sweet smile faded “you…don’t…like it?” tears started to fill her eyes.

“What?? No! No! I didn’t mean that!!!” he quickly said, shaking his hands in front of him “wait! Don’t cry now!!!”

Too late. The girl started crying loudly. Worst, she turned around and ran away, dropping her basket in the process.

“oh no…” he muttered out. Now did he realize that he made someone cry a girl, for pete’s sake! His dad will kill him if he finds out!) who has been so kind to him.

‘I have to find her and say sorry’ he thought, picking up the fallen basket and tossing back some of the fallen strawberries back in. He suddenly looked around.

An idea struck him instantly.

Standing up, he got the basket and started immediately.

She heard rustling. She heard distant footsteps.

She didn’t mind them all.

A voice suddenly broke though her sorrowful state, ”hey…what’s your name?”

Looking up, she replied “So-Solae…Auti-ra…”

“Don’t cry, Solae. I have a surprise for you…”

Something heavy was then pushed in front of her. Solae looked forward and caught sight of her own basket, now overflowing with thousands of strawberries. The boy stood behind the basket and smiled at her.

“My name is Pyro Kinesis. Sorry I upset you a while ago. I really didn’t mean to” he scratched his head ad smiled sheepishly.

“You…picked these…for me?” she asked, standing up from the rock she was sitting on and wiping a loose tear from her eye.

“Yeah. You like it?”

She smiled sweetly at him, her eyes becoming happy curves “I like it very much. Thank you, Pyro”

Perhaps getting lost wasn’t so bad, after all.
