Slasher Family Reunion
Friday October 9th to Monday October 13th, 2009
The event starts on Friday evening, October 9th, and ends on Monday, October 12th (Columbus Day). If you can't make it on Friday or stay through Monday, don't worry; our hotel contract only obligates us for Saturday night, but you can get the group discount rate starting Thursday night and ending Monday night (two days before and after).

* Walking distance to Westport and the Country Club Plaza.
What's the hotel going to do for us that we couldn't have just stayed at the Holiday Inn?
* Complimentary Cooked-to-Order Breakfast 6:00am - 9:00am in Hotel Garden Atrium and a Complimentary Nightly Manager’s Cocktail Reception 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm for Registered Overnight Hotel Guests
* Rooms (which are all suites) are $129 per night for up to four people. After that it's an extra $10 per person.
* Each room comes with EITHER a king-sized bed OR two double beds, PLUS a sofa-bed. So, you get either a king plus a sofa-bed, or two queens plus a sofa-bed. You can feasibly fit six people per room (for an extra $20), although four is more comfortable.
* Discount internet, group rate. Mi tried to get it for free, but they wouldn't budge on that one.
* Snazzy pool and fitness center.
* A balcony for every suite and a small kitchenette plus sitting room.
What to do while you're here?
- Drabble/drawble and other such creative geekery.
- Explore the Plaza (upscale shopping and dining district) and check out the local clubs, restaurants and bars.
- Go hit up one of the local GBLT bars for drinking, dancing and drag shows.
- Room parties (attend one or host your own - we'll all have suites). You can also host round-table discussion groups on any topic of your choosing. Never got that roundtable on bottom!Harry that you always wanted? Now you can host it. We'll put a sign up sheet in the con suite where you can let people know what you're planning.
- Your hostesses are planning to run a con suite of sorts in their room. This will be a place where we can store munchies and set up a beverage station, keep a coffee pot running and post a list of room parties, round tables and assorted field trips.
Why are we being such sticklers about getting a head count so far in advance?
We have to fill at least 10 rooms or we won't be able to get a contracted discount and the other perks like no charge for persons 3 and 4 in a room and reduced internet fees. Once we sign that contract, we're liable to pay up to 80% of the total value of the contract if we cancel late.
This will basically be a convention WITHOUT the official part of a convention that gets in the way of us simply having fun. And because we're doing this reunion-style, there is NO NEED TO REGISTER. The only money you pay is the cost of your hotel room, your transportation, and your non-breakfast meals and other activities.
So, here's what we NEED TO KNOW before we can confirm this:
1. Are you coming? If you say yes, PLEASE be fairly sure about this.
2. Do you have roommates with whom you've already planned to share a room? How many?
3. If you don't already have roommates, how many roommates would you LIKE to room with?
4. Which days do you plan to stay?
5. Your contact email. (In case there's anything important we need to get out. Most plotting and planning will be done on this LJ community)
Put this information in a reply to THIS post. (If you've already commented to mijan's post, then you're good to go. We're already on the list.)
Once I have a final estimate, I'll sign the contract. That will give us a code that you can use to register under the discount rate. We'll post the discount code as soon as we get enough interest so that you can make your reservations.
