08/13 - Happy AkuRoku Day!

Aug 13, 2008 04:50

I wrote some drabbles and a ficlet in order to celebrate AkuRoku Day this year.
(A day to celebrate the awesomeness that is Axel/Roxas from the Kingdom Hearts fandom, since they're number VIII and XIII of organization XIII -> 08/13, get it?)

I still had some leftover prompts to finish from an old ancient challenge between me and
stillarium and I thought this was a good way to finish it off.
The drabbles are all exactly 100 words (obviously) and the ficlet has around 600, they're all harmless as far as ratings go.
(I like writing drabbles, it's a bit like doing riddles :3)

#22 - Moments

It wasn't much. Just him and Roxas on top of the clocktower, the setting sun in front of them, the seasalt icecream in their hands and the evening breeeze going through their hair.

Nevertheless during these minutes he didn't feel he was a nobody without heart. While eating icecream with the younger it was easy to forget about that.

It wasn't much. Yet when Axel took his last breaths, it was this he remembered. The wind on his face, the salty taste on his tongue and sapphire eyes piercing his own. Not much, never perfect, but all that ever mattered.

#24 - Meaning
Sometimes Roxas would dream, but the things he saw when he was asleep never made sense.

There was always icecream involved. Seasalt flavoured icecream, his favourite kind. He used to think it was because he ate so much of it each day together with his friends. The people who meant most to him, or so he thought.

It was logical, it made sense and it was easy.

It wasn't true.

He never realized the real meaning behind his dreams until it was too late. He didn't dream much about anything any more after that.

Sometimes he wishes he'd never remembered.

#26 - Knowledge

Axel knew he was a nobody, he wasn't delusional. He knew nobodys had no hearts and he knew he wasn't whole. Lingering in this world without any real  purpose, the nobodies strove only to one day become whole again.

Axel knew it was impossible, the way the organization went about it.

Axel knew he didn't need them. He didn't need to collect other people's hearts. He'd already found his in the shape of a blond little nobody with the brightest blue eyes ever. Roxas completed him in every way, he balanced him out.

Axel knew he didn't need anything else.

#20 - Sacrifice
For Roxas, Axel had sacrificed a lot of valuable time, going out of his way to get seasalt icecream and eat it with him on the top of Twilight Town's clocktower. He'd done it gladly.

For Roxas, Axel had become a traitor to the organization. Yet that hadn't felt like a sacrifice. It wasn't hard to choose between the organization and the one person who made him feel like he had a heart and a reason to live, or in his case - to exist.

For Roxas, he'd gone up in flames in more ways than one. Smiling all the time.

#8 - Lies

„You know, the first time I saw you, I thought you were just a little kid“, Axel said grinning down on the younger blond who stood in front of him piercing him with deep blue eyes. He almost seemed sulky about what the redhead had said. It was true though, that had been the older nobody's first impression.

„I always thought you were kind of interessting though.“ And not only compared to the other members of the organization, he added mentally.

Right from the first day they'd known each other - which they had ended by sharing ice cream while watching the sunset from the tower in Twilight Town - he had thought that maybe he could have fun with this new kid.

He soon realized he had been right about that...that there was definitely something different about Roxas. It was everytime he exchanged glances with those stunningly blue eyes and everytime they fought together that he felt somethingthat just wasn't there with the other members of organization XIII.

He called it friendship then. Mainly for a lack of a better term, because really, he wasn't all that sure that nobodys could be friends with anybody. Actually he was pretty sure that they couldn't, but sometimes Roxas made him think that maybe it wasn't so impossible after all and that was just another thing that was special about him.

„Maybe you should just shut up now and finally kiss me.“ Axel was only too happy to comply. They hadn't seen each other in some time after all and he'd probably have jumped the other much sooner if he hadn't somehow felt the need to rearrange his thoughts.

Smiling slightly he leaned down to the blond and went with his hand through the hair on the back of the other's head when their lips met in a kiss that started out gentle but, as it was in Axel's nature, quickly grew into something that almost resembled a battle of tongues.

It had been when Roxas left the organization behind that he discovered that 'friendship' just didn't cut what he felt for the short blond. It had been when the heart he didn't have broke that he realized Roxas made him feel like he actually had one.

Both of them looked a bit flushed when they finally broke the kiss to catch some air and look at each other for a moment. It was a while before either of them said a thing.

At first, he had been reluctant to call it 'love'. If a nobody shouldn't even feel friendship, how could they ever consider love? But then, nobodys weren't supposed to feel a lot of the things he thought Roxas made him feel.

Yet that didn't change the fact, that he didn't have a heart, did it? So maybe his „feelings“ were delusions, nothing more then lies he told himself. All of them.

Roxas looked up at him expectantly, sensing somehow, that there was still something the older nobody wanted to say.

„I love you, you know.“ It wasn't the first time he'd said it, but there was still a small smile tugging on his lips as he wondered if he was just making himself look like an idiot. But he liked saying it, almost as though it made it seem more true.

„Got it memorized“, Roxas replied grinning sheepishly while throwing the other's favourite saying back at him. „And I love you, too.“ Then he decided that enough sentimentality had been shared as he moved to pull the older one into another kiss.

Axel was extremely happy about the blond nobody's response while he let hands trail down his partners back.

Maybe it was still all a lie they were telling themselves, but it was definitely a lie worth living.

It was all they had after all.

Will crosspost to some communites after I get up again, for now I'm too tired to do...anything
