First, thank you so much for this; I know not everyone gets Ian/Dominic or wants to, and I'm so pleased you went for it here! There are a few lines here that really stand out and make me smile:

Dominic objected, feeling surprisingly fierce in defense of their erstwhile host, "He's not that old, he's a delightful flirt, and I'm sure he was a quite the devil in his time."

Of course Dominic would defend him; wouldn't we all? :)

He heard about Paris under the Ancien Regime, the Terror, and the rise of Napoleon, he's heard of travels through the Alps and cross the Dardanelles. It was like grasping hold of a whirling dervish and being swept around until dizzy. Dominic was spellbound by the tales, and moreso by Ian's telling of them.

That's such an elegant touch, to let the reader know Dominic's thinking about these things and is not just this flouncing boy. He's got a brain in his head, and he's listening to everything he's being told, even if he doesn't really want to know it all.

I was inspired by your request, and enjoyed writing this enormously. Researching the period was great fun, not just Regency but also Georgian. And then finding a way to get a little of the history and the costumes and the Jane Austen-vocabulary but not overdo it (which I only partially succeeded in).

The characters were really fun to write, it started with the bet and just came from there, written from the middle out. I was really surprised and pleased with how it just flowed. I'm really glad that you like it.

thought vanished in the noise and crush of the hall

though not Nell Gwyn, as apparently she'd been dead longer than he'd thought

but he could not bear to loom

too eager to await any formal handling

"now you shall learn from an old man."

*flails at the deliciousness*
this is such great fun. wonderful treatment of a scorching pairing. and very sweet, as well; i love that dom's not at all 'lowering himself' 0 0 he's completely sincere in his interest in ian. love him defending ian to elijah, too.
*flails again*

This is full of such wonderful, rich details which make this story alive. And you prove that the Dom/Ian pairing works not matter which century they are in :). Very enjoyable!
