RANT-Y POST.
I AM GOING TO WASTE ONE AND A HALF HOURS OF MY LIFE WATCHING SINGAPORE IDOL I AM PISSED. PISSED.
Also:
1) Dick Lee is a well, dick. His entire comment on Slyvia comprised "Wow you look great. What did you do to yourself? Did you get plastic surgery? Because you look great! Have I mentioned that already? Well, just in case you don't get it, I THINK YOU LOOK GREAT why are you here! You can go and sing ~professionally - because you look great!"
SERIOUSLY. WTF? Simply because she looks "great" (have to agree on that, though) does not mean she can be a professional singer. Even though her rendition of Mercy sounded exactly like the original, but that's not the point.
Also, his other comment to Jonathan: "I should have voted for your brother instead." And that was about all he said, no constructive comment, no nothing. Way to go with the sibling rivalry, btw.
Even Florence Lian did this sometimes too - the whole 'Hey what happened to you! You got hotter after the previous few shows - good job!" for Faizal. The singing was like, an afterthought. She was like, "You look really awesome. But the singing right, that I'm mixed about. But hey, you look awesome!"
I don't think I've heard AI's judges outrightly comment on the contestants' looks. It's always a, "oh this doesn't match your style" or "you should think about changing your look" but not because they're ugly, just because it doesn't suit their music.
Also, one of Ken Lim's comments made me go all o.O He said to Amirah, "Don't sing for yourself. Sing to make other people happy! That will change a lot, I think."
Essentially, I'm just very !?!? at Dick.
(On another note, Ken Lim reminds me extraordinarily of Jalleh.)
2) I am surprised, though, because hey, we actually have quite a lot of talent. Sorry to have to say that I'm surprised, but at least we do! :D (A lot of them have non-Singaporean names, though, just a note.)
