I've just finished the (most probably) submission draft of my commonwealth essay for "The long way home..." and it turned out both better and worse than I expected, and also different from what I had in mind, lighter, more ethereal, and I would probably have to do a heck lot of editing, because while the good thing was that the words flowed for once, through the entire story, precisely because it flowed that the quality's a little inconsistent, I think. Need to recheck for rhythm.
I'd still need to finish the one for "Tracks", and I've thought of a plot for "Can I help you" (in Class A) and it's going to be different from what I've written, so I'm pretty excited about that, but only if I get to finish them. Preferably I need both by Monday, but Tracks' more urgent than Can I help you, and even then maybe it won't be due on Monday after all, since there isn't English then.
But your sweatshirt says it all with the hood over your face
I can't keep staring at your mouth without wondering how it tastes
I'm with another boy; he's asleep, I'm wide awake
And he tried to win my heart, but it's taken time
...
And I'm winning you with words because I have no other way
I'd love to look into your face without your eyes turning away
Last night I watched you sing because a person has to try
And I walked home in the rain because a person cannot lie
- Gray Or Blue, Jaymay
Pretty cool song, I thought, especially the cadences of the lyrics. Another awesome set of lyrics I've discovered belongs to Viva La Vida by Coldplay; I've heard the song a dozen times on radio, and it sounded really, really good, but the lyrics simply bring it to another dimension of awesome altogether (!)
Seriously, go read:
I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sweep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own
I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
Listen as the crowd would sing:
"Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!"
One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand
I hear Jerusalem bells a ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
Once you go there was never, never an honest word
That was when I ruled the world
It was the wicked and wild wind
Blew down the doors to let me in
Shattered windows and the sound of drums
People couldn't believe what I'd become
Revolutionaries wait
For my head on a silver plate
Just a puppet on a lonely string
Oh who would ever want to be king?
- Viva La Vida, Coldplay
Panic! and FOB has nothing on them, I have concluded (although they write in different styles, I concede). Meanwhile, I have finished quite a bit of what I needed to today, but I realized I have planned my schedule way too loosely, because I am faced with the prospect of having a lot of things to do tomorrow (after discovering I underestimated the time needed to do things):
Today:
14.30 HCL worksheet
15.30 Lit journal (The Necklace)
17.00 Math (Math FA 1 and Geometric Properties Rev. Ex.)
18.30 Dinner/bathe
19.30 Chemguide (got past IE, molecular structures and hydrogen bonding)
22.30 Chem diagnostic
00.00 Lit commonwealth (Long way home - also, Lit short story)
