Chapter 3
Jensen groaned as his alarm went off, signaling a new day. ‘Another long day working’ he thought as he stumbled through his early morning routine. He waited for the water to boil for his coffee, staring at the calendar. He wasn’t going home for Christmas, well at least not on the actual day. He would be heading back after New Years, after spending his Christmas in LA auditioning for this script.
A small smile slips on his face as he makes his coffee, at the thought of getting the role. Sam, the character he was reading for, was interesting and who Mark wanted him to audition for, but he was too timid to say he really wanted to audition for Dean, the older brother, especially when he was already set for Sam.
He glanced at the script on the kitchen table and sighed, knowing he couldn’t look at it now. He grabbed his wallet, keys and toed on his shoes before locking the villa up behind him and headed to the set.
Arriving 20 minutes later, he parked, climbing out and watched assistants and other workers running around, all looking extremely busy. He shuffled towards his trailer to drop his things off before heading to the catering tent and getting more coffee. Opening his trailer door, he let out a yelp when a large but soft object fell against him. He grabbed it, eyes widening and quickly shoved it back into the trailer before looking around to see if anyone noticed. Thankfully no one had. He stepped in closing the door and stared at the large blown up Batman toy. He rolled his eyes before pushing it away.
Dropping his things on the table, he headed back out to catering. Getting his coffee and a toasted bagel, he sat down at a table, consuming his breakfast. He felt his phone vibrate before it started ringing. He grinned as the tune rang out when he pulled it from his pocket. He looked around as he heard a surprised “Hey!” called out.
“Aww what’s wrong Mikey? You think I slept with Superman too?”
Mike rolled his eyes, taking a seat across from him “You wish, Ackles! No, just pissed you changed the ring tone before I could annoy you here with the Batman one.”
“You think I wouldn’t know better by now?”
Mike grinned, “Good point dude,” then jumped up grabbing some coffee and a doughnut for himself, before settling back into his seat. He took a huge bite of his doughnut then gulped down some coffee, before smirking over at Jensen.
“So I happen to catch a bit of that Gilmore Girl show you like so much the other day.”
Jensen pointedly ignored him; knowing Mike liked stirring him up and getting a reaction. He sipped his coffee, glancing around at crew and extras wandering in and out of the tent, with various breakfast foods.
Mike pouted at Jensen “Jen! Are you listening?”
Jensen swallowed the rest of his bagel and pointed behind Mike’s shoulder “No, because I’m just watching that dude putting his paws all over Tommy.”
Mike’s head swung around fast and searched for his boyfriend. Not seeing him he turned back around, realizing Jensen had just disappeared out of the tent. He grabbed his coffee and jumped up to follow.
“Dude, So not funny!” Mike yelled out, still following Jensen.
Jensen smirked to himself and turned around, walking backwards “I thought so!” then turns around, almost bowling Allie over, “Shit Allie! You alright?”
Allie let out a small laugh, steadying Jensen before saying “I’m fine. Mike bothering you about his party?”
Jensen’s eyebrow quirked then looked at Mike who stopped beside him “Party?”
Mike grinned “Yeah, I hadn’t gotten around to telling you yet”
Jensen rolled his eyes “You sure you couldn’t have put it in between all your lame ass jokes?”
Allie snickered as Mike swung an arm around Jensen’s shoulders “You know you love em. So are you coming?”
Jensen looked down then back up “Sorry dude, you just don’t do it for me!”
Mike pushed him away laughing, Allie cracking up beside them. Mike folded his arms “Seriously though?”
“When and where dude?”
“My place, Friday night at 8.”
Jensen nodded “I’ll be there with bells on,” he said smugly.
“That’s going to be a sight,” Allie said grinning.
Jensen laughed as they headed back to their trailers before being needed in hair and makeup.

The week passed by slowly, the days long and tiring. Jensen felt exhausted and couldn’t wait to go home and relax on the couch, watching TV and eating takeout. Walking into his trailer, he sighed as he grabbed his jacket, wallet and keys, prepared to head home for the day.
Stepping back out, closing the door behind him, he heard Mike call out. Turning he wondered what Mike wanted then it hit him. Mike’s party. ‘Shit!’ Jensen thought as Mike stopped in front of him grinning, like the cat that ate the canary.
“Jenny-boy! Are you still coming to my party tonight?” Mike inquired, looking absolutely devious.
“Will there be alcohol?” Jensen asked.
Mike stared at him, looking incredulously. Jensen nodded, “Of course, it wouldn’t be a party without alcohol, right?”
Grinning, Mike thumped him on the shoulder “It’s like you don’t know me at all,” he walked backwards, away from Jensen “You better turn up or I’m bringing the party to your place!”
Jensen’s eyes widened, “See ya at 8 then,” hurrying over to his car, hearing Mike laughing as he walked away.
When he got home, he looked longingly at his couch and TV. He pressed the button on his answering machine, listening to his messages while grabbing a coke from his fridge.
Hey Jensen, it’s Mark. Looks like your audition times have been moved to after New Years. It’s still looking good from what they tell me, so don’t worry. Besides now you can spend Christmas with your family. Talk to you later.
Jensen frowned but decided to listen to Mark, hasn’t steered him in the wrong direction yet, except maybe that gig on Dawson ’s Creek.
Jen, are you sure you can’t come home for Christmas. Your seriously gonna leave me alone with Jeff fawning all over Melissa and all our cousins, aunts and uncles? I’ll show everyone your poster! Call me back!
Groaning, he fell against the counter, resting his head against the counter top. He wondered if he had an invisible sign above his head, that everyone else could see but him, saying ‘Blackmail me, I give in easy.’
Picking up the phone, he dialed his sister while walking into his room, kicking off his shoes and laying down on his bed. He rang a couple of times before being answered.
“Jen?”
“Hey Mac”
“So are you coming?”
He sighed, saying, “Yeah. My audition times have been changed to after New Years so I can make it now”
Mac was quiet on the other end, until she said quietly “Is everything ok?”
“Yeah. Just tired, I guess. Mark said not to worry about the change in time, so I’ll trust him”
“Good. I haven’t seen you this excited about a show since Dark Angel. I’ll be praying for you to get it, but I know you will.”
Jensen couldn’t help but grin at his sister’s enthusiasm. She would always support whatever role he took. It always brought a huge smile to his face.
“Thanks Mac.” He rolled to the side looking at the clock, and sighed, “I’ve gotta go.”
“Big date?”
Jensen snorted “I wish. Nah Mike invited me to a party tonight, said if I didn’t come, he’d bring the party to my place.”
Mac giggles down the line “Mike’s always good for a good laugh.”
“That he is. I’ll talk to ya later.”
“Bye Jen.”
Jensen hung up and flopped back down on the bed. His body relaxing against the smooth, cool cover and felt his eyes drift shut only to be startled by the phone ringing beside him.
“Hello?”
“Dude, you better not be sleeping.”
“For fuck's sake Mike! What do you want?”
“Geez, you sure got your knickers in a knot!”
“I don’t wear knickers man.”
Mike made a weird noise then said, with a smirk in his voice “Then I hope your not going commando, coz that’s gonna hurt, knotting that!”
Jensen couldn’t help but laugh at him, “Seriously Mikey, what’s up?”
“Well…Tom said I had to ring and tell you otherwise no sex for 2 months. 2 months!” Mike whined.
“Tell me what?”
“Uh…that you have to crash here, if you’re drinking tonight”
Jensen frowned at the phone then heard arguing and a scuffle then a sharp yelp “Fuck Tom, alright I’ll tell him since it wasn’t YOUR idea” Mike sighed then mumbled “He’s coming to the party"
“Who’s coming to the party?” Jensen asked, confused by the 2 of them.
“Umm….”
Jensen sat up “Please tell me you didn’t?” something inched its way, pooling in his stomach making it churn uncomfortably.
“Ok I didn’t.” there was a loud smack and another yelp “Ok I did.”
Jensen gulped his mouth dry. His breathing hitched and he said “Why?”
“I thought you’d like it once you saw him in the flesh.”
“You’re an ass Mike,” and he hung up.
Lying curled on his side, he wondered why it really bothered him that ‘Dean’ was coming to the party. He felt hot and suffocated suddenly. Standing up, he went to the bathroom and splashed his face with cold water. It wasn’t really helping and he looked up into the mirror. His reflection stared back, but his eyes told another story. He looked into his room from the mirror and spotted the phone. Wiping his face with the towel, he went back into his room and called his sister.
“Hello?”
“Mac!”
“Jen, what’s wrong?”
“I don’t really understand. I was alright after talking to you but then Mike called. You’ll never guess who he invited to the party? Tom made him call, otherwise Mike wouldn’t be getting sex for 2 months” Jensen talked hurriedly, words falling from his mouth.
“Wait, wait, wait. Mike invited who?”
Jensen groaned “Think Mac, think!”
It was quiet then a slow drawled “Holy shit!”
“Exactly! I hung up on Mike, pissed as with him. My stomach’s churning, I’m feeling overheated and I don’t know what’s wrong.”
Mac sighed into the phone “Jen,” she murmured quietly “Are you scared to meet Jared?”
Jensen closed his eyes, hearing the name. He thought about it quickly the mumbled “Maybe. I don’t know.”
“I think you are bro. Why are you scared to meet him? Aren’t most people excited to meet their TV crushes?”
“But that’s the thing, it’s just a crush. I like Dean. I don’t know who Jared is and I know I’m gonna make a fool of myself. Why doesn’t anyone believe me when I tell them I don’t wanna meet him? It’s just too much,” Jensen said, feeling even more exhausted than after his long day.
“What do you think is gonna happen, if you meet him at some thing for CW?”
“I haven’t so far!
“Exactly! Your luck can only go on for so long. Maybe it would be good to meet him in an comfortable environment, around friends then say at a CW party with cameras, getting footage and photos of you making an ass of yourself in front of him and everyone else.”
“So I just make an ass of myself at the party?”
“Yes. Tom and Mike will look after you, if it gets too much you can always excuse yourself and go elsewhere.”
Jensen pondered this and it calmed his stomach. What Mac was saying was true; there were plenty of places to hide from Jared. He felt better once that idea was locked into place.
“Okay.” he said.
“Okay?”
“Yeah. I’ll go have fun and relax and like you said; Tom and Mike will look after me.”
“Aww my Jen is growing up.”
“Shut up” he laughed “But really, thanks Mac.”
“Anytime.”
Jensen hung up for the 3rd time in the last hour, the preceded to dial Mike’s number.
“Hello, Mike’s house of love.”
“Your still an ass and I get kick your ass if you piss me off tonight.”
“Jen? It’s a deal; I’ll even mix you a couple of my best drinks to loosen you up.”
“Mike… I…if I want to get away, will you and Tom look after me?” Jensen asked quietly.
Mike was silent. He covered the phone and must have been murmuring to Tom then he came back on the line “As of tonight, Tom and I are your bodyguards.”
“Thanks but no Whitney Houston impressions,” Jensen said, smirking a little.
“You mean Kevin Costner? He‘s the bodyguard dude.”
“As if you could pick me up!”
“Tom could!”
“No thanks, just a safe hiding spot if it’s too much.”
Mike was quiet again “Is it gonna bother you that much to meet the guy?”
“I don’t know him Mike. I only know his character.”
“Well that’s kinda the idea, you meet him and find out what an awesome guy Jared is.”
“Alright but I know I’m gonna make an ass of myself.”
“We’ll look after you man, no worries.”
“Yeah, that’s what worries me. I’ll see you in a bit.”
Jensen hung up. He went into the bathroom, showering and shaving. He went to his cupboard, pulling out a pair of jeans and a dark green button up shirt. He got dressed, trying not to psych himself out, he gelled his hair and brushed his teeth. Pulling on his favorite pair of boots, he looked at the clock. 7:53pm. He licked his lips and grabbed his wallet and keys. He called a cab and waited in the lounge room for it to arrive. It was faster than he anticipated. Taking a deep breath he locked up, getting into the cab giving the driver directions to Mike’s house.
When they arrived he paid the driver then got out. He saw lights on inside and music playing, coming from random open windows. He walked up the drive and knocked on the door. He could hear people laughing and talking over the music. He felt a bead of sweat, slide down his back. The door opened and there was Tom, wearing a huge smile.
“Glad you could make it man. Sorry about Mike. I told him he couldn’t after you told me but…that’s Mike, friggin’ ass.”
Jensen chuckled and walked in “Yeah but that’s your friggin’ ass!”
Tom flushed, while his grin grew bigger “Yeah. Come on, Mike’s at the bar.”
Jensen followed behind him, smiling at waving at people he knew as they walked past. He spotted Allie talking to Kristen Bell on a couch. She waved at him calling out “Come over here.”
He smirked “In a bit, gotta get a drink first.”
She laughed nodding then continued her conversation with Kristen. He stopped next to Tom, smiling at Mike who was busy mixing some concoction together. Mike looked up when Tom said his name. He grinned at Tom then whooped, seeing Jensen beside him.
“You made it and just in time, try this,” he said, pouring out the drink into a cup.
Jensen smirked looking at it then peered at Tom “Is it safe?”
Tom barked out a laugh while Mike pouted “Of course it’s safe. I just drink one before.”
Jensen looked at it again then said “Bottom’s up,” taking a gulp.
It was thick and sweet, tasting vodka and some fruit juice. He licked his lips and smirked at Mike “Not bad, Mikey.”
Mike grinned “I told ya so.”
Jensen chuckled, drinking the rest “Anymore?”
Mike leered at Jensen “I made up a whole batch just for you” and reached down in a fridge, pulling out a huge jug with the mixture inside, pouring more into Jensen’s cup “There you go Jenny.”
“Stop calling me that.”
Tom slapped his back “Go mingle Jen, relax and enjoy the drink.”
Jensen tilted his cup to them then headed over to Allie. She jumped up hugging him and pulled him down beside her “I didn’t think you were gonna show up.”
“I nearly wasn’t.”
“Well I’m glad. So I was just telling Kristen here about Batman.”
Jensen choked on his drink and stared at Allie before glancing at Kristen who grinned. He went to talk but Kristen put a hand on his knee “Don’t worry, Allie told me to keep it confidential.”
Jensen still looked worried but Allie leaned closer “Don’t worry, your not the only one who hooked up at the Halloween party,” eyeing Kristen with a smirk.
Jensen looked at Kristen who blushed but grinned “Well it’s only fair if he gets Batman that I get Catwoman.”
Jensen laughed then frowned thinking “But wasn’t…” his eyes widened “You mean you and our Kristin hooked up?”
Kristen nodded, smiling. Jensen grinned “Well, looks like it was an eventful night for all”
Allie snorted beside him “Speak for yourself.”
“No sexy masked dude to come and sweep you, off your feet?”
“Nope only you.”
Jensen blushed, swallowing more of his drink while the 2 girls laughed. He stood up mumbling “I need more to drink” and walked over to the bar “Fill her up Mikey.”
Mike laughed and got the jug, pouring more. Jensen thanked him and went back to Allie and Kristen. He sat down, casually glancing around and thankfully, couldn’t see Jared yet. Turning back to the girls, he froze seeing a pair of brown eyes looking at him. The guy watching he quickly looked away, seeing Jensen catch him watching. Jensen took a drink and shook his head. Hi figured the might have recognized him from Smallville, especially if he’s at a party thrown by Lex Luthor. He chuckled to himself, drinking more of his drink when he noticed Allie and Kristen staring at him.
“What?”
“What are you laughing about?” Kristen asked.
“It’s nothing,” then had another drink.
“I think that drink must be pretty strong,” Allie smirked.
Jensen looked at it then passed it to Allie, who took it and took a sip. Her eyes widened and she gasped “Jesus Jen, that’s pretty strong.”
Jensen frowned “It is? I didn’t think so and this is only my 2nd drink”
Kristen laughed “What’s in it?”
Frowning again he looked over at Mike who was laughing with Tom and a couple of other people “I don’t know, Mike didn’t tell me”
Allie laughed “Then there’s probably a lot of alcohol in it.”
Jensen shrugged drinking more “It’s still good,” and sat back listening to the girls talk. He saw Tom looking at him so his raised his cup grinning. Tom smiled, shaking his head and turned to say something to Mike. Mike stared at Tom then at Jensen who was currently drinking down the rest of his drink. He cracked up laughing then yelled out.
“Hey Jenny? Want some more?”
Jensen flipped him off “Yeah and stop calling me that,” he yelled back but grinned.
Tom came over taking the cup and Mike poured more. He talked to Tom who bit his lip then nodded. When he came back over, Tom knelt beside the lounge, passing him the drink.
“Hey, Mike wants to know if you want to join him for a little… uh herbal refreshment?”
Jensen frowned “I don’t wanna drink tea. I’m drinking this.”
Tom smirked “No, not tea,” staring at Jensen until Jensen realized.
“Oh. Okay then.” the got up following Tom over to Mike where they walked upstairs into Mike’s room, closing the door behind them. Mike went to a draw, pulling out a box. He sat down on the floor, next to his bed “Pull up rug ladies.”
Jensen snorted “If anyone’s the ladies here Mikey, it’s you and me,” taking another drink.
Tom laughed while Mike frowned “Who’s that?”
“Coz we’ve bottomed. And ladies usually bottom… unless they‘re on top or there‘s a strap on involved.”
Mike stared at Tom and both burst out laughing, Jensen joining in. Mike sobered up pulling out a joint then said, staring at Jensen’s cup “Maybe I did make them too strong.”
Jensen grinned “Nope, it’s all good.”
Mike smirked then lit up the joint, taking a couple of puffs before passing it along. They shared it around until it was gone. They sat back, feeling the effects, totally relaxed. They stayed like that until Jensen whined when he ran out of drink.
