Week Three Challenge

Title: The Beginning of the End

Pairing: Remus/Severus

Scenario: Remus finds out in the boys bathroom that Severus cuts (as in his wrists) and Remus makes him stop. And: Remus can't go to Hogsmeade this time because he is still weak from his transformation -- Sirius doesn't stay, nor does James or Peter - Severus does.
Authors Note: I hope this is okay, adding someone at the end. He didn't stay, but he did come back early.

The halls were creepier when no one else was around, Remus noted. He'd wanted to go to Hogsmeade, but he just wasn't up to it. Aches, pains, scratches and misery seemed to fit the castle far better, anyway.
Someone else had stayed behind, though. Someone he could only be with when no one else was around. Someone willing to take that opportunity, even if it meant giving up going to town.
So, Remus found himself searching for that someone.
Just a quick run to the loo, he'd said. Over twenty minutes ago.
Remus opened the door to the closest boy's lavatory and froze, shocked. The smell hit him before his brain processed what it was he was seeing.
Blood. Blood and Severus and a wand turned into a sharp blade. Deep cuts up and down a pale forearm.
He was over to the dark-robed boy in a flash, his wand out, cleaning him up, tearing a strip off his robe to bind Severus' wounds with quick, familiar movements.
"Why?" he muttered as he worked.
Severus' soft voice, tired and resigned.
"I can't love you, Remus. I just...I can't."
And Remus understood.

I came back early to see this?
Sirius sneered, closing the door. He'd thought himself lucky, not having to search for Remus in the castle.
This has to be stopped.
And by the next full moon, he knew just how to do it.
