Scenario 1: Remus finds out in the boys bathroom that Severus cuts (as in his wrists) and Remus makes him stop
A/N: well, it doesn't quite fulfill the scenario but it's a hell of a lot better than the last effort.
Remus was used to blood. His monthly transformations made that inevitable. But he had never seen someone intentionally inflict such pain on themselves as he saw in Severus. Black eyes fastened, engrossed on what he was doing, Severus’s left hand moved the knife against his pale skin until rivulets of blood trickled down to pool on the floor. (The blood was crimson, not black as Remus realised he would have expected Severus’s blood to be.) And Remus was transfixed, rooted to the spot, almost sexually aware of the movement of the knife.
Then Severus looked up, and saw him, and the awareness was clear in both sets of eyes. Remus backed away. It was either that or kiss him.

Scenario 2: Remus can't go to Hogsmeade this time because he is still weak from his transformation -- Sirius doesn't stay, nor does James or Peter - Severus does.
“You didn’t go.” His voice is low, and he’s having difficulty meeting Severus’s eyes.
“No.”
“Why?”
“I chose not to.” Severus’s voice is stiff and cold.
“I treat you so badly,” he whispers. “I’m sorry.”
“It doesn’t matter.”
But he knows if he looks up, Severus’s eyes will tell him that it does. So he keeps looking down and just reaches out a hand to him, as if to make sure by touch that he is really there. And Severus takes the hand in his cold one, and they’ve papered over the cracks - again - and they’ll pretend that it’s all all right, that they’re a normal couple again.
And it will last until the other three return from Hogsmeade.
