So I have all sorts of fic I need to work on/start within the next couple months.
::rubs hands together::
I love due dates . . . no really I do.
Fandoms:
NCIS
Criminal Minds
Rurouni Kenshin
Bleach
NCIS
so
ncis1000words just put up a diolog prompt that jumped out at me when I read it. It's only supposed to be 1000 words long which isn't generally hard for me and takes me about one good sitting once I know what I want to write. I've also been wanting to write something for my fabulous boys (Gibbs and McGee) so this seemed like an excilent excuse. I have not started it though, we will see what I come up with.
I also signed up for the
NCIS_ficathon again, which was lots of fun last year. We don't get our prompts until the end of the month though and I can't wait to see what I get. I kind of love being assigned a prompt written by someone else because usually it is something I never would even think to write otherwise. It stretches me as a writer and I'm almost always happy with what I come up with.
Criminal Minds
I am doing
lgbtfest again this year. Like
NCIS_ficathon I really enjoyed doing it last year. The prompts are always so thought provoking and really make me think about what I'm writing. This year (after lots of agonizing over the phone with my brother and partner in fannish crime G.) I signed up to write a Criminal Minds fic. I've been reading fanfiction for CM and watching it for years but I've never written much, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to stretch a little.
However this May unlike last year is busy, busy, busy for me and literally the only posting date I would be at home for was May 19th which gives me less time then I would like. Luckily I have a beta all lined up and am more then half way done it. My goal is for it to be finished by this weekend. We'll see.
Rurouni Kenshin
So G. being the helpful younger brother he is hooked me on RK (the manga not the anime) over the last two months or so. It's one of those fandoms so old you have to excavate it to know it's there. But when has that stopped me? Obviously not often, as witnessed by the fact that I am in the middle of writing an epic fic for it.
It started out as a shameless excuse for me to get Saito into women's clothes (don't ask, it's hot in my head). Now 10 + pages in it looks like I'm in it for the long haul. The fic as totally morphed from a quick fun excuse to do a little crossdressing into a much larger over arching character study of Saito and Kenshin's reactions to and rolls in the Boshin War. Not to mention involving far, far more historical research then it has any right to, including e-mails to my undergraduate advisor (who is a Japanese historian specializing in the period).
::Sigh::
Ah well, even if it isn't any good, even if the fandom is just about as dead as dead can be, I will have enjoyed writing it.
Bleach
G. got me hooked on anime over Christmas despite the fact that I've held out for years against the whole art form for reason that, looking back on it, don't make a lot of sense. The end result being however that G. shoved me head first into multiple fandoms, in which I aim kind of out of my depth. Bleach being one of them.
I have read, lots and lots of fics and stared lovingly at lots and lots of fanart, but I have not written anything myself as yet. Since the Bleach fandom is alive and kicking ass I feel like this is a shame. Luckily while surfing LJ I ran across a
bleach_bigbang specifically aimed at yaoi. So I'm figuring I can give it a shot. It's not like I have too much to do this summer or anythings
:: laughs manicly::
Edit:
bleach_bigbang as been postponed until the fall so I signed up for
bleachbigbang instead. Gah! now all I have to do is write 15,000 words.
that's all for now folks but knowing me there will be lots more stuff before the summer is through :~)
