So 3 days ago, I took my 2000 Acura to the dealership to get an oil change, and for them to check out a transmission issue I was having. They informed me that I was going to have to replace the Transmission! That's $3500.00 after labor was added in.
I took the car and got what I could out of it at a local dealership, and spent the following 3 days doing nothing but shopping for a new car. I had a good experience with some places: Haynes Jeep Salesman Perry Drewry, West Broad Honda Salesman Donnie Ward, and Carmax Salesmen Thomas Townsend and Michael Coefield.
Other Places, I didn't have as positive an experience. I won't say where, but one dealership with which I had extensive experience completely destroyed their reputation with me. I spent over 6 hours there over 3 days... Most of the time was spent waiting for one unprofessional salesman. They played all of the "used car dealer tricks" and mostly they just didn't respect me as a customer.
Ultimately I ended up purchasing this car from the West Broad Carmax Store:
It has 48,000 miles, but this brought the cost down significantly. I also bought a comprehensive extended warranty that covers everything on the car up to 110,000 miles. I've always liked the look of this model Accord. It is the Honda Version of my 2000 TL. I'm extremely pleased with it.
I dealt with several salespeople looking at a few cars at Carmax, but the one who sold me this car, Thomas Townsend, was extremely nice, and made it really comfortable. I really felt like all he cared about was helping me find a car I was happy with. He was really relaxed, patient, and wasn't pushy at all! I would recommend that anyone looking for a car in the Richmond area speak with him.
