I'm not a fan of New Years. It's not that I've had a bad New Year's experience. All the parties I can remember attending have been fun. I think, if anything, it's the years of standing next to Jon, Tony and all the others saying, "Next year's the year we make it!" And, as you may have noticed, not "making it."
I've come to the (grumpy, funless) conclusion that new years really doesn't mean anything. It's an artificial deadline. If you want to make a change, it can be as easily done on April 23rd. So, yeah, I've turned all Scrooge when it comes to the weight or over-dramatic meaning of New Years.
Let's take a quick look at 2008 and all the fun we had:
- Finished Season 1 of 664.
- Went to San Diego Comic-Con for the first time.
- Had one of my most memorable and fun musical evenings with the Rogue Reunion night.
- I still have the job I like! (Freakin GM, making me sweat)
- Discovered writing comic books was actually an obtainable creative outlet.
Hrm. Doesn't seem like much. But 2008 was a fine year.
Now, for the headlining act. 2009 - in percentages!
Chances I'll:
- Release one musical CD - 95% (conservative estimate)
- Release a second musical CD - 50%
- Release a third musical CD - 5% (sadly, I have little control over this one)
- Film the second Season of 664 - 95% (conservative estimate)
- Film a second webseries - 66%
- Release a 4-book graphic novel - Fuck if I know. I know nothing about this medium. But I'm gonna try!
- Going to New York Comic Con - 99% (with said comic book idea in hand)
- Watch the Patriots play the New Orleans Saints in New Orleans - 75%
- Build a new deck on the house - 90%
- Have one of the more interesting years of my life - 100% (conservative estimate)
